Ushiku Daibutsu, located in Ushiku City in Ibaraki Prefecture is an incredible place. Once the tallest statue in the world, it still retains its status in the top 5 and is a place anyone can feel at peace.
2.5x the height of the Statue of Liberty and surrounded by beautiful scenery, what really makes this place amazing is that you can go inside it. Different themed floors make for a fun experience, and an observation from 85 meters (279 feet) up in the air is an added benefit.
It’s easy to visit by car, but if you want to visit by train make your way to Ushiku Station and either take a 30 minute bus or a 15 min taxi ride there. Don’t forget to check out the Ami outlet mall which, unlike the Daibutsu, is fairly dog friendly.
Check the website before you go, they have a lot of events and that can draw a big crowd.

It was very peaceful there, but I'm sure it's due to the lockdown. Do you know which Buddha it was? I might have to check it out the next time I'm in Japan.

I recently went to this temple a week ago!! Sadly I didn’t get the chance to get into the giant statue totally missed that because I had to hurry and get to my tour bus since they only gave us 1 hour to look……😒……but I was happy to feed the fishes, view the pond and waterfall, rang the bell, light some incenses and even wrote on the wooden plates and hung them.
Amituofo!
