This weekend while staying at the family’s place in Nagano-ken, I took a walk down to the Tenryu river to test out the video and sound recording capabilities of my new Nikon Coolpix S6600 HD camera while enjoying the beautiful weather. The Tenryu River runs by the family’s home and dumps into the Pacific Ocean near Hamamatsu, Shizuoka-ken. The peculiar bird you will hear in this video is called an uguisu, or “Japanese bush warbler.” It’s distinct call really represents a voice of Japan to me, and I always feel happy to hear this bird. It’s a very shy bird though, and is rarely seen.
Don’t expect much. It’s just me farting around with my new camera, testing the wind noise reduction, zoom, close-up, etc. Just watch if you like Japanese countryside.
