IT HAS COME TIME FOR ME TO MOVE BECAUSE I’M STARTING A JOB ON THE TOTAL OPPOSITE SIDE OF TOKYO FROM WHERE I LIVE NOW AND I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT TO RIDE THE RUSH HOUR TRAIN EVERY DAY OR I WILL BECOME A HUSK OF A PERSON 😭
Apartment hunting in Japan during the high season is sooo stressful lmao 0/10 DO NOT recommend but sometimes you gotta do it…I was originally planning on not moving until later this summer but I’m actually glad I did it now despite the stress because guys MOVING TAKES SO MUCH TIME AND AHHH idk how I will do this once I have a job lol 🌸
So I visited two apartments!! Please let me know which one you liked better down below in the comments! I was hoping to view more to make this a fun ~series~ but I just did not have the time to lol 😭 Next time I move it will NOT be in high season…hopefully…
BTW yes this is considered an expensive apartment for the average person my age living alone!! The prices are really all relative so even though I say the apartment is like $1300, Japanese salaries are way lower so it doesn’t really equal that…you know what I’m saying lol. I am so happy that I’m able to afford this rn and I am so excited to start a new chapter of my life in my new apartment aaaahhh!!!
I am rushing to get this out btw because I am days away from moving and my apartment is just a box mountain and my PC is about to disappear into the ether for a bit

APARTMENT ONE OR TWO!?! Let me know!!! The movers are coming in 10 minutes as I’m writing this btw loll
Second apt for saftey since its not at street level and its super close to your work
Second apartment. Plants outside might help for deadening sound. It's a nice balcony and amenities.
Hello
I think you chose number 2 home.
As you got all the ammendment of home 2 like a place to leave your panels and auto lock and really close to where you work. Thank you for showing us what it cost and moving Dat in Toyko. I wish they had packing and removing and transport of belongings and unpacking at the end. In the UK we have to pack our own belongings and once we get to our new place we have to unpack.. I really hate that. I'm disabled I can't stand for too long. So it's sitting packing. Also I love the idea of ladies as part of toyko removals because you don't have a man putting your smalls into draws. I'd find a man unpacking my underwear creepy.
I think you picked apartment one so you’ll have more money for buying stuff and making videos about it.
Omg ai love your videos about apartment hunting! Can you talk about the paperwork you have to get ready beforehand? I have no idea😭
I think you picked 2
Hi Allison! I’m planning to visit Japan this winter and was wondering if places will still be open during New Year’s Eve/New Years. I heard places in Japan close from 12/31 til 01/03. Is this true? Thanks in advance ❤
Given all the information you cited it's a tough choice. I like to open my balcony windows which makes it harder as you have to choose between visibility from the street or traffic noise (and pollution). Sound you can take care of with noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs for sleeping. (The custom made ones, not the foam bits.) Bugs are off-putting, but closets are the toughest call. If you have a platform bed with storage under it, that would help to ease that burden. But you have to store lots of things like suitcases too.
I'd pick #2 for the extra amenities. If you can work toward a minimalistic style, it will be more comfortable in the long run. Personally, I would have sucked it up in your current place for a bit longer, done the commute, and moved in the off-season when I might have more choices. But that's me.
I hope that you chose apartment number 2.
Apartment 2
Oh wow, very difficult decision. I kind of liked the first one a little better. It looked more spacious. However I would have and I think you did too, choose the second apartment because living on first floor and having to probably live with the bug problem a long time would be out of the question for me. So I think you’ve chosen apartment number two. Can’t wait to find out which one you’ve really got.
You can't hang clothes outside in either apartment, they're both noisy but the second one is not as noisy… and it has package delivery boxes. I think you chose apartment number 2.
I think apartment #2 🙂
#1 is a no go
I would say second, it sounds the best of the two
This was really interesting to watch! I've seen a lot of apartment tours, but never a Japanese apartment hunting vid. So I didn't know much about the different kinds of amenities, pricing, exact size, etc. It seems like the cities in Japan have way nicer and cheaper apartments than in places like New York, lol.
Oof, I definitely would've picked Apartment #2, but Apartment #1 is cheaper in the long run, so there's that. I just can't stand orange walls, haha, and Apartment #2 was suuuper nice.
Gosh the whole apartments go immediately thing sounds terribly stressful. That was the housing market the last two years in Ohio! It’s a bummer you can’t wait until you find everything you want but I hope you got enough of the important stuff from your list!
Two!!
Apartment 2!
What you didn't mention is how close each place was to a train station, which I feel is very important.
What does floor storage look like? :X
Apt 2! ❤
絶対に2番目が新しくて良いね(笑)
Gは2階まで出るって言うから、1階に蜘蛛がいるのも必然だね…
2nd one. It looks obviously better. Which realtor did you have?
Very informative video. I came back for a Japan trip a few months ago and I started thinking about going there for work. You mention NYC apartment hunting vids, but even US tier 2 cities, I wouldn't find any apartments for 1k USD. Not for buildings that have the accessibility Tokyo offers.
In the second unit, the washing machine is in an odd location however, if you used a tension rod over the washer, you could use it as a way to hang up jackets, sweaters and outerwear, making the storage in the living area less packed. I might add a second tension rod with a curtain to hide it too.
"Key Money" is dumb.
#2 all day.
I think the 2nd one. I showed apartments for 10 years and non-negotiables were never up for debate. 1st floor and safety for single women were top of the list… same for the luxuries 🤣🤣
Hello, Allison – I am new to your channel, and I know I must be the oldest subscriber you have. You are very charming and I am enjoying your videos. Except for the cartoony and cutesy ones which I will never understand the attraction in Japan to these, however chacun a son gout. Keep up the good work!!
2
I bet you chose #2!
I'd say you went with #2. Apartment #1 being ground floor is a deal breaker, too many cons being on a ground floor in my book in a dense urban area. Not to mention the street noise is more apparent vs white noise effect in the 2nd.
I wonder when she'll let us know 😂
Did I see you in Jiyugaoka yesterday? Did you wear the black dress with sun glasses?
