TRIP REPORT | Premiere on Singapore A380! | Frankfurt to New York | Singapore Airlines A380

Singapore Airlines Trip Report flying from Frankfurt to New York JFK onboard one of the Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 on a lovely winter morning.

A very comfortable flight onboard the Singapore A380 from Frankfurt to New York JFK in Premium Economy class. Flying on the Airbus A380 is always synonymous of a very comfortable flight. If on top of that, we have a seat in the Premium Economy cabin, then the comfort is total.

We took off from Frankfurt in a westerly direction. After a few turns, we were already set on our route to New York. We flew over Luxembourg, north of Paris. We entered the Atlantic over the Cherbourg area. For the next 4 hours, al what we saw was water; water everywhere, as we crossed the Atlantic towards Canada.

We finally reached Canada over the Goose Bay area. We could even see part of the Sea Ice before entering Canada’s mainland. Seeing the Sea Ice from a plane is one of the best views you can ever have. It’s just amazing. We continued towards the southwest over the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. We left Quebec and Montreal on our right, Boston on our left and, finally, we reached New York, where we landed ahead of the scheduled time of arrival.

Regarding the onboard service, the crew served lunch just after takeoff. Literally after 30 minutes from lift-off. A little early to have a glass of wine and a warm meal, in my opinion. For the main meal, I had pork medallions with potatoes and mushroom cream. It came with a quinoa salad, cheese, butter, and bread. To be honest, it was nothing special. It was tasting good, of course, but very plain flavor. The dessert was vanilla ice cream. I was curious about the other meals so I asked the crew if they had any spare warm meals available. They brought me a chicken curry meal with rice. The taste was good and really spicy.

A couple of hours before landing the crew served the pre-landing snack. To my surprise, and based on previous Trip Reports I had seen on Youtube, the one served in the Premium Economy Class was not the same as in regular economy. It makes sense, as the ticket costs almost twice the price. They served me some rice with vegetables, fruit, and a warm vegetable sandwich that tasted incredible. Great job Singapore Airlines!

All in all, a very comfortable flight with Singapore Airlines. Would I repeat flying with them? Yes, for sure yes. Do I think they are at the same level as Emirates or Qatar? No, they are not. They are above the mean European airlines but definitely not that much. I would say KLM is more or less at the same level as Singapore Airlines. At least, in economy class, of course.
