One of my weirdest memories of Tokyo was when my daughter and I were trying to take the underground to see the Tokyo Tower. We were having difficulty with the ticket machine so we pressed the "Help" button and out popped a man from inside the machine who assisted us!! The Japanese are very helpful!! Don't worry guys – I have lived in Tokyo for two years and still get lost regularly. Local Japanese get lost too. Just a small correction for Matt's comments about Japan's work culture: things have been changing in recent years. The description of everyone staying till the boss leaves mostly still exists in very conservative small companies and a category of companies called 'black companies' in Japanese – most companies actually try to limit overtime now.
Tokyo is not Japan just like NY is not America.
If you really like to feel Japan, it would be better to visit more country side and stay longer. I know it is not good to get more viewers who like to know the funny side of our cultures only on the surfaces.

You’re seeing crowds because you’ve been to the most cliche places in Tokyo. I’ve been living here for 15 years, in Shibuya and I barely see any people in my neighborhood. Glad you visited Japan, hope you followed local rules so as not to inconvenience others

Japan has an excellent culture of design and engineering, water jets for example in place of toilet paper,a good example of how advanced they are, Japan is the world in 35 years time!✌️♥️🇬🇧much love a good trip

Since Tokyo is so large, as you would expect, if you go looking for something, you'll find it. On garbage day, if the plastic bags aren't netter and crows come, it can get really filthy and disgusting. Parts of the city are literally built on top of garbage and, to me, it seems the majority of crime is committed by the LDP (they don't like any competition). I can't decide which group is scarier here, the ultra right wing nationalists or the religions like Seicho no Ie and Happy Science.

日本人は他人を思いやる文化、困っている人は助ける文化なので、海外の方には親切に映るのでしょうね。また、ゴミは持ち帰る、公共の場所は綺麗に使うと言う意識が強いので、海外の方が清潔と思うのかもしれませんね。
I've been watching other videos about people who live in japan. Even though japan looks like interesting place to visit, having to work until 9pm at night?? How does that contribute to burnout? My first thought is, if people are working long hours everyday, that would lower persons life expectancy……but, japan has the highest life expectancy in the world……..so, perhaps the diets, and constantly walking every where.
