Tom… put some ideas into your Disney imagineer friends to create the "Spirit Of Aloha" experience & dinner show on the abandoned Bay Lake Discovery Island. Start the experience from the polynesian resort with a separate welcome center on the water front. Inside would be like a mini polynesian museum, you receive your luau passes and ceremonial flowered or beaded Lei… Guest then take a polynesian ceremonial decorated boat ride to the island… Meet & Greet Mickey, Lilo and Stitch…

Politicians not liking when companies/ private citizens fight back because the government is trying to take away their freedom of speech should be political. If they want to walk all over the first amendment, what makes people think they will respect any of the amendments.
Disney has more money better lawyers . A big big bill from Disney to State of Florida, the tax payers will get stuck with the bill.
I hope Desantis goes down on this. It is his fascist agenda that tried to strong arm Disney because they spoke out against their "Don't Say Gay Law". That should be terrifying that a government is trying to punish a company exercising their right to free speech.
This whole thing is one continuous temper tantrum on the part of Ron DeSantis. In the end he will just ruin his chance at the White House and get played by Bob Iger.
I am from Detroit where at a time the city was friendly to the movie industry, and we enjoyed having the first few Transformers movies here, Real Steel, Red Dawn, etc. Those privileges were taken away suddenly, and the city does still enjoy some productions, no where near as much but some still do film here. ANY privileges granted by the government can change, just like the “magic” of Disney has changed. Disney has proven more and more in these past years that they are a money making company that cares more about their profits than anything or anyone else, and I do not trust them to be ungoverned or to have the best interests of the State of Florida or their citizens as Disney’s main priority today than when this privilege was originally granted. The statement made that because of past goods that Disney did should forever grant them those advantages is an interesting way to see Disney.
Perhaps someone should remind Gov. DeSantis that WDW is the biggest employer in the state, generates the most revenue in the state, attracts the most tourism in the state, and contributes more in sales tax than any other entity in the state. Just a thought. By comparison, Mayor Buddy Dyer is the voice of welcome. Perhaps HE should run for governor. He has a sense of what the tourist & hospitality industry means for Florida in income and jobs.
Having a live action Ariel meet and greet is exactly what many people were saying would be an issue mainly for kids. For a child who still believes in these characters to see a white Ariel one day and then the next day see a black Ariel will be extremely confusing for them. For a company that is so careful to not ruin the magic for children they are specific down to the minute to never have the same character on stage in front of guests at the same time not just in the same park but across all areas on property to do this now makes no sense. This isnt a race thing but an issue with Disney contradicting themselves and stepping all over their own rules for preserving the magic.
Part of the reason IMO why DeSantis is going after Disney is because he wants to expand gambling in Florida. Ron DeSantis is backed by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, who owns and operates Hard Rock Casinos. Representative Randy Fine, the “Don’t Say Gay” bill sponsor, is a former casino executive. They see Disney as a roadblock for their quest to open casinos in Florida. Disney has paid money into campaigns preventing casinos from being built in FL. This is the true reason for Reedy Creek getting dissolved: to build casinos on WDW property. DeSantis and his buddies won’t admit this because they’re crooks and liars.
Desantis is off course not gonna back down. His supporters would turn on him in a hearbeat saying he folded to 'woke' disney
Disney has no legal standing here.
They will either lose this lawsuit and waste billions of their money.
Or, they will either win the lawsuit and then be sued by the state of FL for running an illegal municipal government inside FL.
Their best outcome is to stall until they can pay a judge/governor thats in their pockets.

Of course this whole thing was his fault! He was the one who started this whole mess and all because the Walt Disney Company stood against his stupid legislation. DeSatanis has NEVER shown what taxes were not paid, and what expenses were incurred by Disney properties in lieu of taxes? It happens all the time. – Incentives for growing the economy.
