It’s been far too many years between our last Thailand trip and revisiting Chiang Mai, but man it feels so good to be exploring the Nimmanhaemin area and some of old town at the night markets again – it’s good to be home(ish).

In 2016 we got the crazy idea to sell everything we own and book a one way ticket to Thailand, staying in Chiang Mai as digital nomads working on a few different businesses, with no idea what would happen or where it would take us. There’s so many epic things to do in Chiang Mai, but we really wanted to revisit some of our old favs, explore the night markets again and go back to our favourite cafe and food spot!     I've wanted to go to Chiang Mai but heard there was a huge problem with stray dogs, is that true or you don't really notice it? From stories I've heard, it might upset me. I don't know

    I lived in the same area for 2 months last year….favorite coffee shop of mine also, had a soy latte most mornings befor getting some food from the street vendor next door or going to the same BBQ chicken place for the very best chicken ive eaten. One day after too much beer the night befor I walked down to get a chicken to take back to the condo and suffer in silence but I was devastated to find it closed …. for no reason, just closed. Worst day ever didnt know what to do. There was alos a coconut ice cream shop in the same area…fabulous. And a burger place …sooo cheap and really good chips. And a bar owned by two ladyboys up near ninman rd who had a special of buy 1 get 1 free jugs of beer. I couldnt drink 4 jugs only 3 so they let me carryover the free one until the next day. Wonderful city wonderful friendly people and I cannot wait until I return in a few months. Oh and the hotel you showed in the beginning, the green hotel next to it is even nicer and more colonial. Thanks for the memories.

    Great video. So funny you did or have been doing like exactly the same things as I did during my time. Lived in palm springs, loved chicken josh, cloud 9 massage, roastniyom for coffee only thing i missed was ticky cafe!

    Having lived in both CM & Bangkok, i really do miss the quietness of Chiang Mai, its such a slower pace, cute coffee shops, more relaxed etc

    I spent some time in Chiang Mai in June – first time in 25 years. Reminded me I shouldn’t go back to places I’ve loved. I was so disappointed to see beautiful old Tarpae Rd is now pretty derelict – the old antique shops, the silver and porcelain shops and the old textile shops have gone, and a lot of the old teak houses are fighting for survival against glass chrome and cement rivals. The old city too has lost alot of its charm with the loss of many teak houses and their gardens. Most of the old family run guest houses have gone apparently as a result of deliberate policy to eliminate competition for the hotel chains. A reminder that time changes all things.

    I just saw Philippines Elnido video. At 60US you get just a standard hotel room!!

    Greetings from the Sultanate of Oman i am your new Subscriber to be honest always when i visit Thailand i must stay in Chiangmai also i have been there several times but i am sad this coming July my wife decided to Phuket its Okay cos i have never been to Phuket but i will be missing Chiangmai alot this time guys 😪
