In this 7-month update video, I cover some of the challenges we’ve faced in Singapore’s rental market and rental hikes, where we’ve been living since moving here. I also talk about how plans might not work out and the emotional challenges of this huge relocation. Singapore is the second most expensive city in the world (after New York City), so if you’re moving to Singapore 2023, this video will reveal some of what to (possibly) expect in 2023. I hope you enjoy the video – like and subscribe for more. In the meantime, thank you so much for watching 🙂 Happy New Year 2023!!! 🇸🇬❤️
btw: the December rains part of this video includes some lines from a famous movie – do you know from which one? 🙂

With my husband, I moved to beautiful Singapore from the UK. Currently, I am taking a career break to Rest and use the time to delve deeper into my childhood hobbies – film and storytelling. I hope you will follow along in my journey as I reflect and share my thoughts on life in short film 🙂

Stop whining…..Just go back to India! Its cheaper than UK but filthier!
Singapore is the worst place in Asia for expats to move. Everything is expensive, crowded and humid all year round, especially for budget travelers. There are better places to move such as Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam
For students singapore is good or bad? Student can do part time job during studies…If yes than please let me know.
A couple of delusional people!
This is such a well articulated and resonant video. It's so refreshing to hear your experience narrated in a calm, genuine, and rhythmic way. I also wanted to say I am equally susceptible to planning and over-planning and at present I have mapped out the next 3-5 years of what I want/ expect my life to look like, recognising the risks that come with trying to plan so far ahead. I cannot be certain where I will end up in the coming years, but I hope wherever I am, I am without regret. 🙂
P.S – I will be looking up the works of Mahmoud Darwish now
Indian Singaporeans don't even like Indians tbh. The rental market in Singapore is notoriously racist to brown ppl too . Singaporeans too proud and arrogant and as you know it is all about the money and value you bring . My family are from there, and I know all too well. They are luring in foreigners by enticing them as low tax safe haven. Later they plan to tax them heavily once they feel like they can't move elsewhere.
Why are you here?! I just spent 20 days in London for work and returning to Singapore made me depressed! I would gladly move the opposite direction! Haha. Great video and narration.
I’m sorry but if you’re of Indian / South Asian descent and looking to rent, you’re out of luck. There are racial biases which still persists in this multiracial community. Best is to buy an apartment. Hope you guys have a good time here. Best of luck in your pursuit of happiness.
I moved from Vancouver to London in Aug 2020…I regret that move…now I’m moving to Asia for a bit before returning to North America 😂
Very calm and peaceful narration. Well done, you kept me throughput the video, could have watched more and more 😊
Lovely narration and Videography ❤️
Please don’t use false title as clickbate. You are misleading in your title as I genuinely was only looking for people who regretted moving abroad for my information and had to watch your video till the end to see why you regretted the move which you did not.
Just like to give you a little bit of heart for this lovely video. I know it seems tough, and I came across your video as I am a Singaporean man myself who have made a move to Canada during the pandemic. It's really profound to watch a reversal of roles. And to understand human beings are all trying to enrich their lived experiences. My home country may seem relentless and nobullshitty – but if you do make some friends along the way, I want to implore it will be less alone and tiresome. I love the title – and the narration – it was your way of expressing your art so please continue being you!
If u not happy in singapore please move back to where u came from or where u were born
This film-making is impeccable. Thank you for creating and sharing. Love.
I lived in Singapore for 5 years. I think before the pandemic, Singapore was a much better place for expats. During and after the pandemic, prices of everything just skyrocketed. The government and its polices only care about citizens. Expats are totally neglected and left die they just want them to pay tax and rent appatments and make citizens wealthy. Expats are looked on as commodities. For the Labour class its even worse.
I have friends who do not feel part of the country even after living there for more than a decade. Its definitely not a welcoming country.
Having said all these, if you are single or don't have kids, Singapore can be attractive with job opportunities and travel options. You could save on lesser tax compared to other developed countries.
When migrate, is easy for one only if he can adapt another country’s culture and willing to adjust along the way. Is hard if u expect Singapore to adapt to u , likewise if Singaporean migrate to India need to adapt to india culture..enough said ..basic theory always there , it failed when people don’t bother to practice it.
Depressing video, if you want to kill yourself slowly watch this video.
What a thoughtful and beautiful video documenting your move to Singapore! Loved it <3
Hey ! I m single and planning to move sg as one of my friend have contact in 5 star hotel Carlton in Singapore they are going to provide accommodation and food. Is it good decision to start career? As I m from India.
I really like the way you narrate your experience! I can relate to feeling the need to plan and to be in control of everything. From your video, I also sensed (not sure if it was correct) glimpse of exhaustion before moving to singapore, and hence, wanting to rest and take a break in singapore. Do you think the intermittent feeling of regret that you had came from the country (i.e.: singapore) or from the post-covid chaos and uncertainty? I am in a state of mind where i feel unmotivated, and in need of rest, and i’ve been wondering about the reason i feel this way! 😕
Lastly, I hope you do find the happiness you are looking for 🙂
Follow Yr heart and family.
There is always peace.
Pray.
well done, good information. Wish you best and blessings upon you & your family ))
Singapore is an artificial city, wish you can find the real nature within! Love and light.
My family and I moved to New Zealand from Singapore. I can resonate with the feelings that you experience. It's always a mixed feeling. We are enjoying our time here in NZ esp with the greenery and mountains. Hope you will enjoy Singapore as I did growing up in SG. Looking forward to more videos 🙂
Come to Malaysia
Sg is meh … still relies on western expats to head top science depts at AStar
