Tomatoes are actually from South America, and Margarita Pizza in Naples was the only type of pizza in Italy until after WW2.
Then, when American tourists went and expected italians to make good pizza, they were gobsmacked that it wasn't great, so the italian gov. taught the rest of italians to make pizza for tourists.

There aren't broccoli in that pizza but a kind of vegetable called friarielli hère in Naples and for me sausages with friarielli is one of the best napoletan pizza… I really don't like broccoli and I have to say that are very different in comparison to friarielli. I don't know why for you they seem like broccoli ahahah the smell is different and even the shape
