  1. This video was more like a commercial for the resort than an honest review.

I was just at this resort 2 weeks ago. It is an absolutely stunning property for sure and for the most part I loved it but like most all-inclusive resorts there are areas that could be improved. The grounds and beach are amazing as is the main pool and I like that the pool bar has a swim up side and a walk up side. The rooms are nice enough but getting a bit tired. My only real complaint in the room was that the A/C was exceptionally noisy (that may have just been my room as I haven't seen other reviews complaining of it). So much so that we had to crank it up while we were out for the evening and turn it off when we went to bed because it was loud enough to keep you awake. Also our ceiling fan didn't work and no one came to look at it while we were there. Food was in my opinion quite good by AI standards. The breakfast/lunch buffets were pretty much the same each day but there is enough variety that it isn't a big issue. We ate at the dinner buffet 4 nights and there seemed to be something new each night. The 3 Al a carte's we tried (Vietnamese, Mediterranean and International) were all good. My biggest complaint, and it will likely sound like I'm making a bigger deal of it than it actually is, was that the drinks in my opinion and depending on what you like to drink are not great here. Especially if you claim to be a 5 star resort. I'm at a point in my life where I don't drink a lot but when I do I like a good drink (ie quality vs quantity). I'm fine with a few beers and a blender drink or 2 at the beach but before dinner or in the evening I like a good well made cocktail with quality ingredients The blender drinks and beer were fine but if you like more traditional cocktails they are awful. Wine is typical AI as in not great. The white was ok, red was not very good at all. Of course they are more than happy to sell you good wine but that kinda defeats the idea of an AI resort especially at today's prices. All of the non level bars serve local no name liqour. The level lounge where you make your own drinks has premium liqour (although it often runs out) and the level Quimera roof top bar has premium liqour but is only open in the evening. Aside from rum the liqour is bad. I had a martini that tasted like watered down vermouth and whisky sour that if I hadn't ordered it myself I wouldn't have even know what it was supposed to be. They do have plenty of premium liqour at all the bars (Tito's, Goose, Patron, Don Julio, Johnny Walker, Hennessy etc) but it is for purchase of the whole bottle only you can't just buy a drink and the bottles are more expensive than they are in Canada. I will say the bartenders at the lobby bar do a great job of making the drinks ie put on a good show and the presentation is lovely but they are working with crappy ingredients so unfortunately the end product isn't great. This resort markets itself as a 5 star and is at a price point that there should be brand name liqour included even if it was just at the lobby bar. The level upgrade does give you limited premium liqour but that upgrade puts this resort in the same price range as more upscale resorts like Secrets and Excellence etc.
This video comments on lively entertainment I would say this resort is anything but lively. I don't mean that as a criticism at all because that was partly why I booked here. I was looking for laid back and relaxed. If you are looking for lively this is not the place to go.
Overall this is a very nice resort and was a wonderful vacation. Staff are very friendly. I would certainly consider returning but if I did I would either look for a deal on the level upgrade or buy some good liqour at the duty free when you land (aside from rum premium liqour is more expensive in shopping areas then it is at the duty free.
