We were walking in the historical area of Kurashiki and came across Yuurin An, a newly opened restaurant that serves Wagyu bowls and nigiri! Without a doubt we had to try it!
It’s our second time in Kurashiki. The first time was last year, so because of COVID a lot of restaurants were closed. Now, there were a lot of new shops and activities in the area! Really recommend a visit to this charming city in Okayama Prefecture!
Here are some spots to visit in the city:
1.Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter: known for the beautifully preserved Edo-period merchant houses, willow-lined canal, and stone-paved streets
2.Ivy Square: This historic brick complex is a popular sightseeing spot that was once a spinning mill
3.Ohashi House: This large, well-preserved former merchant’s residence offers visitors a glimpse into the life of Kurashiki’s wealthy merchants during the Edo period
4.Achi Shrine: This Shinto shrine, located near the Bikan Historical Quarter, is known for its beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring and is believed to bring good luck in matchmaking and love
5.Traditional crafts: Kurashiki is also renowned for its local crafts, such as Kurashiki Mingei (folk art) and Kurashiki Hanpu (canvas), which can be found in various shops throughout the city.
6.Local cuisine: don’t forget to try Kibi-dango, a popular sweet dumpling made from millet flour, which is a specialty of the region.
