Remarkably, Shirahige Shrine on Lake Biwa was founded over 1,900 years ago! ⛩️❤️ Located in Takashima, Shiga Prefecture, this Shinto shrine is open from 8.00 – 5.00pm daily, but visitors can view the torii gate at any time. It’s especially beautiful at sunrise. 📍The best way to get here from Kyoto is by train to Omi-Takashima Station (covered by JR Pass and approx. 50 minutes) and then a 5 min taxi from the station.
