I just returned from Singapore, and while the country is fully open for travel, it’s still definitely not the “Singapore” that I remember. I’ll discuss how traveling to Singapore is right now, including how busy it is, prices, what’s open, what’s closed, and the general vibe of things in Singapore.

Thanks for another great informative video!!! I hope to go to Singapore one day!
I went to Singapore 6 months ago, one of the greatest cities on Earth
Singapore is considered "Asia Lite", meaning that it's an easy Asian destination because almost everyone speaks English there and there are so many Western businesses there as well.
I didn't see the whole video but one nice attraction I really enjoyed in Singapore was the Jurong Bird Park. I see that it closed in January of 2023 but will open as Bird Paradise in May 2023.
I'm glad you were able to get Premium Plus for your long flight. Economy section has to be a horrible way to fly that long of a trip. I usually take Singapore Airlines out of LAX. I'm glad you had a chance to fly Business Class with that airline.
Thanks for the report!
I too just returned from Singapore. Took that super long flight out of JFK. It was my first time there and was pleasantly surprised at how uncrowded it was. Your live stream and photos seem to be nearly an exact play by play of everything I did while I was there. I stayed 10 days at the new Hilton Orchard (Previously a Mandarin Oriental). Similar to your experience I found the executive lounge food to be quite good at the Hotel. I found Raffles City to be a one of the coolest shopping and eating areas of the trip. The food court level was exceptional.
You have such a unique perspective, I love learning from you.
I totally agree with all your reasons for your love of Japan! Its tourism infrastructure makes them so accessible but yet they can still remain so exotic.
A 17 hours flight for a person w/ no gallbladder could be disastrous. (that would be me) π
Good Morning… sorry I couldn't watch your live stream last night… watching you awesome Live Stream now while I'm working from home…I've been to Singapore about 25 times during my 30yrs serving in the Navy… Singapore and Dubai / Abu Dhabi are some of our top spots… Keep up the great work…We will be in Vegas Thur – Sunday of this week and won't be back up at DL until the 29th. Hav a fun, safe and Magical Day….TTFN
Try to get citizenship of Singapore. Then u all know the sucks of it.
3 countries in 3 weeks, that's not very impressive; the panda crew is slacking like all pandasπΌ. I was in 6 countries in 3 weeks and got back this Sunday: Japan (stop over), Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Korea (stop over), Saudi Arabia (stop over)π΅βπ«
Great stream, so interesting to hear an update. I appreciate you also share what you don't like. Praise is worthless if there is not also some criticism
Reply to Dustin Calkins @6:13, Japan took more than 1 hour for me at Narita 3 weeks ago. I have all the QR codes done and saved to my phone but the lines was huge and you have to go through like 3 lines before they let you out.
17 hours!? Thanks for all the updates. I'll be stuck at home for all 2023 most likely. But I can try to start planning. I'd like to go to Spain first and then Egypt. I have to look thru your videos to see if you have done Egypt.
Why do I have to come to YT and watch a PowerPoint slide show coupled with side narrative, WHEN YOU CAN HAVE A BLARDY CAMERA TO RECORD A VIDEO???
So im taking it that in Singapore is a big No No to steal. π€
Linking your observation that hotel rates are now even more expensive, and the fact that quite a few hotels had taken the "down time" of the pandemic to remodel (and so are closed temporarily), I would guess that part of the reason for more expensive rates is because there are fewer rooms available. Low supply as demand increases. Basic economics.
Hi no Lexus cost less than SGD$200k. In fact, the cheapest Lexus (UX & NX models) cost more than SGD$240k π’
We're having a car price crisis now due to the Certificate of Entitlement (a cert that allows a car to be registered for 10 years) price going well above S$100k.
As of today, cheapest Lexus RX costs S$395,800, Jeep Wrangler Sahara is S$344,888 and the cheapest Kia Cerato (with a 1.6l NA engine mind you) is S$144,999.
That's why we Singaporeans sometimes wish we were in the US instead!
You don't like to use the public transport in Singapore? There wasn't a good option from the zoo? Or it would have taken forever?
Nice video! I'm from Singapore and will be flying to LAX for 17hrs too. Flying Singapore Airlines premium economy which is similar. Interesting to see this video as a local as I have been using your video guides to plan my 18 Days road trip from LA-JTNP-GCNP-LV-DV-YOSE-SF-LA. Thanks for the amazing tips and guide, planning my first trip to USA is a little intimidating at first. π
Just came back from Japan and Japan is in full swing. Probably worse when you go, but hopefully Singapore remain like this when we at the end of June.
Sg Chinatown Food street is not what it was pre-Covid as most of the stalls couldnβt survive through the 3yrs of Covid restrictions and had to close.
If u want cheap Sg food, go to hawker centres I out public housing estates instead of the touristy ones (eg Newton, Lau Pa Sat, Chinatown Complex, etc )
U can use credit / debit cards for our Sg public transport (MRT & buses).
We were in Singapore in March (2023) and I thought I'd tell you about Assistance available to folks that can't walk so well. I have had assistance in quite a few airports but Singapore was the most outstanding. They made sure that our family (3 of us) were kept together which no other airport has ever done. They lent us a wheelchair so that we could spend some time looking around the Jewel before our flight. They helped with our bag check in and when it came time to go through security they made sure that all members of our party were kept together. (this was all when we where leaving). When we arrived they even had extra staff take our suitcases for us and found an extra large car as we had a lot of luggage. Wonderful people and a wonderful place. By the way the light show on Sentosa is a little bit aimed at kids with the "story" but the actual light show was well worth the trip to Sentosa.
Fantastic video, Chris! I shared it with my sister and her hubby, who want to go to Singapore at some point. Sad that so many places require digital/online purchasing/payment for simple things. Bummer!
59:38 Singapore flies the A350 SFO-SIN, but your flight SIN-Taipei was a 787 Dreamliner.
Commenting to spur the YT algorithm lol! j/k
Great overview of your stay in Singapore, excited for the upcoming vlogs!π
I LOVE your video, Β I had just subscribed to your channel and like your video. I will keep support your channel.
