Hello family , welcome to my YouTube channel , i hope you have enjoyed this video. PALENQUE COLOMBIA – LIFE In Americas First Slave Liberated village !!! In 1603, Palenque – Americas first liberated village was founded by Benkos Biohó, an escaped slave that hid with 36 other men and women. Until the sixties, there was no connecting road between the main road and San Basilio de Palenque. That’s why the creole language Palenquero (mix of Spanish, Portuguese and a African Bantu language) that is not spoken anywhere else in the world, was able to be preserved.

The small village was declared World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO. It has a fascinating history and it is the place where many Afro-Columbian styles of music and dances have their origin.

From Cartagena, it will take us about 1,5 hours to San Basilio de Palenque, where we will meet our local tour guide, a Palenquero. We will visit the village and the cultural center, where we will learn about the history of Palenque. If you want, you will be able to witness why the Palenqueros are so admired for their rhythms and dances and why San Basilio is the center of Afro-Columbian music (dancing performance not included in the package).

Afterwards, we will be served a typical Palenque dish for lunch. After lunch, we will head back to Cartagena.

  1. The Palenqueros of Colombia do not have any documents of ancestors coming from Africa. Stop perpetuating the colonial fraud already. End the genocide and false stories about people who are dark skin with non-straight hair being slaves who were taken from Africa by "white men." This is racist trash that is specifically said about people in the American continent (Abya Yala) who look a certain way. That's it. It's socially destructive and it was created against the Indigenous people of Abya Yala to take their lands, their dignity, their nationhood, and their sovereignty away.

  2. Wat language a they speaking, it's an interesting tongue, it sound like the language was common with freedom fighters, liberation lingo

  3. @50:55 the two young Queens they dream of what Africa looks like (They have the same yearing I have in seeing the land). The girl on the right was wearing a distinct African knots (We call it ChineyBumps in Jamaica).

    Loving this documentary Marwa!

  4. An architectural error turn a small town into an international tourist spot- Pisa, Italy. This town, Palenque, has such an important history it should now have an international tourist trade— food, t-shirts, posters, dolls, books, videos etc. I was mesmerized by this visit and wish that I heard of it sooner- where are the African artists to make a bio-pic of the founder – what a story. Thank you for taking me on a true tour of a fascinating town.

  5. This brother jerme does not have colombian or palenque accent he has jamaican accent. he musta have migrated from jamaica mon and married a palenquera and lives there with her. I think he had a little too much powder cocaine on his cereal that morning too wtf!

  6. This people have nothing to do with people from Kenya. Different people! Just like black Americans have nothing to do with people from Kenya! 2 different people! Mawra is not discovering a new race of people! Black is not a nationality it’s a color!

  7. Black people all over the world are the forgotten!! Unify and take care of our own before we do anything else…

  8. It’s fun traveling with you Marwa. I’m enjoying learning about the history of this place that I didn’t know existed. Thank you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  9. One love Marwa! You are a good Brother! Thank you for travelling and showing us that our people are all over the world! Hidden, but not anymore! God bless you! Asante asana! This is your sister from Ghana! ONE

  10. I really believe in African Empire and im working on it.Our community is super power because we travel centuries being hurted, stigmatized… but we stay strong. No other community can support it.We are brave and strugglers.
I dream one day we build An empire as we did in Egypte our own land.
Now its time we build a bridge between us and power our community wherever they are.
love you bros 🥰🥰😍😍You are doing something you dont know the impact.
bros i think we should do something bro to help these villages to support building schools, districts, hospital….

  11. Funny how one of the girl asked about Africa animals walking around everywhere. I once had someone asked me if we, Africans, lived with the lions. This is more the work of colonialism that brainwashed everyone view about Africa. The sad thing is I have seen more wild animals living in the city of USA than I have seen in Africa. I have never once seen wild animal in the city of African unless at the zoo. I have seen couple of your Afro people video. They are more civilized, clean, polite, and have beautiful culture. Thank you for showing us the forgotten Afro people around the world. I would love to visit these places to support them. 🙌🙌🙌
