On the final day of our trip to Ibaraki, Moe and I quickly visited Toshogu shrine with it’s ornate torii gate before getting a train back to Tokyo. After that we quickly stopped by the old castle grounds where unfortunately there no longer is a castle but you can still see things such as the walls showing the perimeter.
All in all, visiting Ibaraki was a fun trip to take as an excursion from Tokyo. It’s relatively cheap and does not take as much time to get to as opposed to further destinations from Tokyo like Okinawa or Hokkaido.
