I randomly traveled to Phu Quoc Vietnam. I knew nothing of the place and thats what I wanted! It is an Island in the Gulf of Thailand that is Vietnam however in contrast to Mainland Vietnam one does not need a visa to enter. You are good for 30 days! The building and infrastructure improvements here are on accelerating beyond belief. Let me show you around this cool island and all they are doing.

M O R E A B O U T U S
My name is Brian but everyone calls me Greeny. I retired in January of 2020 after working 30 years in Law Enforcement. I wanted to retire young enough to be able to do some of the things I always dreamed about! I knew I wanted to travel extensively and retire somewhere warm and exotic I sampled a ton of places in the Caribbean, Panama, Colombia, Turkey but set my sights on Thailand. In 2020 I met Fai on a Tinder date and we hit it off immediately. We have been inseparable ever since!
I started making videos as a hobby but now it is more like a passion.

Greeny, the projects not "started". it's STOPPED.
This project was likely financed by the Chinese. If you search YouTube about the "Chinese housing crisis/bubble", you will see they have created great hardship for their people back home by building, building, building, but never finishing or delivering the units to buyers who where given mortgages and are paying for homes they will never occupy. There are videos of them demolishing huge numbers of vacant, never occupied high-rise apartment buildings. This project in Vietnam got just a little further along, but realize with the super low occupancy/ownership, the building can't cover their taxes, utilities and maintenance expenses.
Looking nice but no thanks
Oh my, the potential this place has. I sure hope they finish that community, yes it could be truly amazing. What an island I wonder how many square kilometers this island is, it seems to be fairly large.
A place to avoid
seems more like a boring time share concept, people love Thailand for its bars, shops, street food and chaos. no one wants a island suburb that's been manicured and groomed. not a sound investment in my book.
Any idea if Americans can own houses there? I am ok with townhouses but don’t like condos.
It all looks like a theme park!
Have a great day greeny 🤙🙏🍻🇦🇺🇹🇭🇺🇸🍕
Cool
Didn't know about that
I was there 2018 it was very quiet island then. Nice beaches some other attactions for tourist
Whom is loaning the money to build this China, Japan, Hedge fund, Middle East?
This island is surely not for me. In fact, it’s opposite to what I want from going to an island – island vibe – not theme park looking buildings and all this man made space and cable car. Look more like being in China than on a resort island.
The wife and I almost bought some land there several years ago but decided to stay in Vung Tau. PQ is a place to visit. A friend has a bar a restaurant and a tattoo shop on PQ.
It looks nice but too bad it's in Vietnam.
I went to Vietnam in 2011 thinking it was going to be just as good as Thailand but it was a completely different vibe.Still had a good time and it was nice but just not the same.
I prefer Thailand.
Marco Island?!? Surely Sihanoukville would be a better comparison! But if the target market is Chinese, where are the casinos? (s it conceivable that a special visa status could be planned, similar to Sarawak versus Peninsular Malaysia? There are millions of would-be expats trying (often unsuccessfully) to retire to Mexico, Costa Rica, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. It would be very smart of Vietnam to tap into this pent up demand, without swamping Saigon/Hanoi with foreigners, as Bangkok has been…
Cost of living? If available?
To much Chinese and maybee Russian too
🇰🇭🇹🇭🇺🇲🔥💯🙏🙏🙏
Interesting thanks for sharing
They have spent millions on the island mainly the billionaires from Vingroup and Sun World .
People say they are just laundering money there hard to see how they make any money .
I stayed at a 5 star resort there a while back and was amazing value for what you get over all cheaper then Thailand.
That cable car was the most insane one I ever been on imagine how high those concrete towers are heading out to a island paradise I believe it is the longest in the world over the ocean .
For sure wouldn’t invest there but the Vietnamese sure are and who knows maybe some day the fake Venice will be full of people .
The island is a work in progress but things happen fast there and the airport is new and very efficient so getting there no problem .
I was in Phuket a few months back for the first time and have to say it didn’t meet my expectations will be choosing Phu Quoc over Phuket any day and with all the development there it will be a major hot spot in a few years .
Thank you great video, But way to over grown for me.
All chinese money probably destroying SE Asia as usual
No good for a visa run then?
In the next 5yrs phu qouc is huge! Theres a lot big project most of them are vietnam investor! Theres a lot big project all over vietnam! And i heard they build a smart city in hanoi and they said the best smart city in south east asia better than singapore! Construction begin this year.. anway search this some of the hundred underconstruction project in vietnam
Vinhomes ocean park
Vinhomes smart city
Vinhomes grandark
Van phuc city
Global city vietnam
Swan park vietnam
Can’t complain about the traffic 😂
It's just a sea of concrete poured over any natural beauty that may have been there. What's the point? It's development at any cost.
Vietnam have some of abandoned project mostly huge houses, skyrise building, hotel and resort😢.
What a strange, sterile looking place. It looks so bland that it could be situated anywhere in the world. Definitely not a place I would like to live or even visit.
it looks like Milton Keynes by the sea.
Look at the air! OMG….it looks like China and make no mistake IT IS, it’s Vietnam in name only. Absolutely nothing looks appealing to me, have you ever been to China? It’s not a nice place to visit and you definitely don’t want to live there, I like the artistic rendition of the community, did you notice all the caucasians in the pic? and that you’re not allowed to film in areas? Don’t even think about moving there! I’d rather live in rural Thailand than China. The old part looks nice, but they’ll drive those people out for profits! Shame on you Greeny Travels there’s nothing green about you but you money!
Money from China.
– Read about China's Belt and Road initiative.
Vietnam (and Thailand) is part of that plan.
Not for me! Why do Vietnam want to build massive theme parks when they already have natural beauty to see which would be my reason to go somewhere. Vinapearl in nha trang, ba na hills in danang and now this monstrocity in Phu Quoc. No thank you
How do you say “Ghost Town” in Vietnamese?
WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE?? Oh yeah, NO ONE CAN AFFORD THE $45 U.S. dollar entrance fee!! 😂
Why do all foreigners here think this development is financed by Chinese money? I'm Vietnamese and I can tell you the owners of this place are from the two biggest real estate companies in Vietnam which are Vingroup and Sungroup. They are billionaires (US dollars). Vietnamese wouldn't let Chinese investors take over real estate projects as they do in Cambodia. But Chinese investors are welcome to build factories in Vietnam.
We live in Kampot,Cambodia. A speed ferry from Cambodia to Phu Quoc took an hour. We stayed for a week up near Grand World, had a brilliant time, plenty to do will be back for sure.
Great scoop Greeny, rather interesting…………Fake cities………….horses for courses I guess/isn't my cuppa tea ……………….but interestingly, will they mature greener and add weathered/used character over the decades, then one can make a comparison with European architecture….Regardless, the Asian market loves this stuff with their completely different 180 perspective………..keep pioneering, am enjoying your content………………………….
I don't agree with you Greeny, The best place not mention to building or each, it must to compounded with people, cultue and activities. Phu Quoc will be another famous destination in next few years but both Phuket and Samui will step up to another level too.
Chinese
Wheres the bar ladies & beers😂😂😂
It's not a free 30 day visa.
Vietnam is $50.
Otherwise it would be a great weekender.
Malaysia is a better option
PhuQuoc 🏝
Amazing my friend. Where had this built? And where do you life there. Do you have Rent a house or a condo there? What is the price for rent there a condo? Many questions, we think you must make a next video about this Island. Best wishes Siri and Uwe
