I said it last time. And I'll say it again. Just keeps concentrating all the tourists into fewer and fewer areas which is the exact opposite of what should be intended.
Maybe after October, flying around Japan on LLC is better?

But if you think about it, they haven't increased the values in the last 15 years, so the new values kind of make a little bit of sense.
To be honest, I'm curious to see how this will impact the tourism in Japan. I believe this will "force" tourists and guides to start going to other prefectures besides the Tōkaidō line.

I love to Japan train station, can I know if I enter a certain train station let say Tokyo train station. Will I be charge any train fare if I just walk around inside the train station for about 1 hour and then exit the train station?

This news is actually crushing to my group. We were planning on going in January/February, so it's right after the cutoff line where we would be able to buy the JR Pass voucher 3 months in advance 😢

Wow price increase is steep. You have to go on at least one long distance rt per week to make it worth it.

Price increase is justifiable, after all it's stayed the same price for so many years. But the increase is very steep though. I just came back from Japan. Went to Tokyo, Kyoto, Kanazawa and Shirakawago. Hokuriku arch pass works for this route but it's only a 7 day pass so you can't stay long in one city, and it makes sense if you are stopping in other cities while you travel from Tokyo to Osaka or vice versa. The Hokuriku shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka and vice versa will take at least 5hr+. I love the new Hokuriku shinkansen!
This is really going to hurt the smaller towns and places people dont normally go. When I have the pass I explore lots of places I wouldn’t normally go. Hopefully they will see what happens and adjust.
