My trip to Koyasan coincided with the Kechien Kanjo, one of their most important Buddhist ceremonies.
Koyasan is the world headquarters of the Koyasan Shingon sect of Buddhism. At Koyasan, you can stay at one of the 120 temples in the town and enjoy some traditional shojin ryori or ‘devotion food.’
