Mount Fuji is a big part of Japanese culture, but last time I went past in a Shinkansen, it was too cloudy to see it. This time, I went straight to Kawaguchiko, one of the surrounding towns, making sure to pick a good clear couple of days. Success! Even got a hotel with an awesome view of Fujisan at sunrise!!
I visited the Fujisan World Heritage Center:
I stayed at Plaza Inn Kawaguchiko, top floor, room 403:
I went up the Mount Kachi Kachi Ropeway:
A tip for staying in Kawaguchiko – not many places open early for breakfast, so if your hotel doesn’t include breakfast, head for the Kawaguchiko station cafe! They open at 8am and there was no one there when I went so early so I got a window seat with a view of Fuji! And the Fujisan koroke was really good!
