Off the beaten path, Temple at 6 am …

Kyoto can be busy during the peak season, but there are always places and moments to have a tranquil time to enjoy the break from your daily busy life.

  1. Awesome video. I'll be back in Kyoto next month so I will definitely be visiting these quiet places by the rivers.

  2. Kengo-san, what’s the best way to try to meet local Japanese that know a little English?

I’ll be in Tokyo and all over Kyushu in May. I’m staying in guesthouses and planning to find walking tours and less touristy restaurants and bars.

It’s fun meeting other travelers, but even more so having chats with locals.

I only know about 10 words in Japanese 😂.

  3. Another great video Ken Chan. Thank you for showing the stunning beauty of Kyoto during the Cherry Blossom season. We’ll be visiting Japan next month and Kyoto is part of our itinerary. We look forward to see some places you have shown in this video and in other past videos.

  11. Thank you for the tips on transportation in your earlier videos. It has helped us during our trip. We just came back from Kyoto during the Sakura full bloom. It was a really beautiful city with Sakura trees almost everywhere and every tree is beautiful on its own.

  12. Thank you Ken Chan! If it's possible, could you share a map of where these places are please? I cannot find the stone bridge that you put near the start of the video.

  13. Great tips, Ken-chan!
To be honest, I didn't like Kyoto as I was expecting when I visit it for the first time.
I don't know if it was because I got some raining days or because it had so many tourists.
I think that this tips will help me to enjoy more the city! I'll totally use them on my next trip!
Thanks a lot for this video! You rock!

  14. So stunning 😮 I have only planned one day for Kyoto 😅 Fortunately for me I can simply use one of my four days in Osaka in case I crave for more 😄. Lake Biwa seems like an excellent side route for a day, so I'll definetly visit it. I do hope to spot a wild monkey though 😆

Travel excitement is getting to me, it's just a week and some hours and I will arrive at Tokyo.
