Niigata#1 Niigata Station to Furumachi

This time I’m going to visit Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. It is the only ordinance-designated city on the Sea of Japan side of Honshu.
We walked from JR Niigata Station through Bandai City and Bandai Bridge to Furumachi, the downtown area of the city.

The distance from Niigata Station to Furumachi is about two kilometers. Public transportation between the station and the downtown area is by bus. Although it is a distance from Niigata station, there are also a number of restaurants and hotels in the Furumachi area.

Although it is Niigata City, I have the impression that the city center is largely dispersed. It is spread out in front of the station, Bandai City, and Furumachi, with Furumachi in particular being a bit deserted. It takes a long time to get around on foot, and I thought that if there were a streetcar system connecting the city, the flow of people would flow better.
