Had a fun day with my friends relaxing by the riverside enjoying a hanami picnic and then went to Nakameguro to view the beautiful nighttime sakura 🌸 It was super busy of course but it is really beautiful! Then checking out the grand opening of Japan’s biggest anime store, the Animate in Ikebukuro 🙊

The first part of this video was filmed on April 1st while the second was actually filmed in mid-March 😅 I wasn’t happy with the footage because it was too crowded to film properly but I decided to upload it anyways since I wanted to publish a sakura vlog before the season totally passed…though the sakura shown in this video are all past-peak now and are nearly green 😭

The new Animate store was impressive but GOD I WISH THEY HAD AN ESCALATOR WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM!!!! AHHH!! They had one escalator at the beginning that deceives you into thinking it will have them for all the floors, but no…They did add two more elevators finally but still, an escalator would be so so nice…and I don’t know personally it felt a bit empty to me?? Emptier than before?? In terms of merchandise available…did anyone else who’s been there feel this way? Or maybe I was just overwhelmed and they were sold out of a lot, I’m not sure lol

    When I was in Ikebukuro and entered three shops in a row that sold pretty much only pins, I couldn't believe how even one of those stores could survive. The next day I saw multiple people in the metro with those bags that are completely full of pins on at least one side. The dedication of japanese fans shouldn't be underestimated.

    Of cousre i know【Sony】. During 10s and 20s i used musical equipments good such as walkman named, CD player, etc.
    I like【Uniqlo】and【Hellokitty】the most also i like store【Muji】that contains tons of inexpensive and practical items.

    I got a lot of the rain, from the end of last month, when I was there, but it was still beautiful.
    Got to be honest, I was a bit disapponted with animate. Didn’t live up to expectations 😅

    I was in Animate on opening day, it was sooooo crowded x) i had to wait for 2h to pay for my 2 T-Shirts But overall: a very nice store, wish i could've visited it with a little less people inside 😀

    The new Animate store seems a little bit like building a Uniqlo store that’s twice as big — they have room for twice as much of each item, but not necessarily twice as many unique items. I’m guessing a store like that probably can’t source the more unusual things from smaller companies. But Animate should be perfect for buying my drawing supplies, and anything from any current hit series. But really, I’m just as interested in finding BL doujinshi nearby at Mandarake….

    We’re planning on staying in Ikebukuro during our upcoming trip, and probably won’t bother going to Akihabara. (Akiba might have some interesting stores, but I don’t speak or read Japanese, and we’re not hardcore gamers, so I probably couldn’t appreciate the really odd or unusual items.)

    i was at animate on 1st April and it was still very crowded!
    i thought you should have gone to naka meguro the previous weekend as i see that some of the sakura trees have turned green in your video.
    still i was hoping to meet you when i was in japan. maybe next time.
