Once again the crew of No.99 1747-7 were kind enough to allow me to place a Camera on their Locomotive.
In this video we return towards Radebeul as far as Weißes Roß, where our trip was cut short by a road traffic accident just one stop short of our destination.
The Radebeul–Radeburg railway, one of Germany’s oldest narrow gauge railways is a 750 mm (2 ft 5+1⁄2 in) narrow gauge, steam operated railway on the outskirts of Dresden, Germany, also known as the Lößnitzgrundbahn (Lössnitz Valley Railway) and locally nicknamed the Lößnitzdackel (Lößnitz Dachshund),.
Primarily a tourist attraction, the line maintains a year-round timetable between its main base at Radebeul East station adjacent to the Deutsche Bahn station on the main line between Dresden and Meissen. Scheduled traffic on the Radebeul to Radeburg line is maintained by Sächsische Dampfeisenbahngesellschaft mbH using steam locomotives built in the 1950s.
Older trains, using engines and carriages built in the late 19th and early 20th century, are maintained and operated by the non-profit Traditionsbahn Radebeul. Heritage trains can be seen in action on special event days.
Our train steams on towards Radeburg, crossing Dippelsdorf Lake on a causeway to reach Moritzburg, famous for its Baroque castle, Schloss Moritzburg. After a short stop at Moritzburg, we set off again passing next to Bärnsdorf Lake divided by a dam into the Upper and Lower ponds complete with a Lighthouse. After a brief stop at Bärnsdorf our train picks up speed, passing a series of picturesque villages as it traverses relatively flat farm land to reach the end of the line at Radeburg.

  1. Hi Tim! Wonderful video, the sound of the 99er is great. In Moritzburg you can see a car with two horsepowers 👍, that's funny. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.

  2. 1:48 Gasp! D-d-d-d-did you s-s-s-s-see that? That fellow just v-v-v-v-vanished before our very eyes! Yikes! Dieser Bahnhof ist doch begeistert! LOL🤣

  3. 5:02 Again! Another fellow just vanished into thin air! I'm going to have to tell Amy and Jarrad of the Amy's Crypt YouTube channel about this place. They love ghosts and haunted places! LOL😁

  4. Rock-steady camera mount – how do you do it ? Gimballed ? Hydraulically damped ?

    Great video and beautiful scenery.

See, pavement car parking has caught-on in Radeburg – naughty.

  5. Tim, I love to follow your videos, but when you get a cab ride why don't you put an external mic right up there by the stack.👍👍👍👍

  6. Hats off to all the wonderful volunteers in the UK & Europe for keeping all the preserved railways running there a place in history thanks Tim cheers Robert. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🛤🍾🍷🍺🥳ps What's our next great adventure?
