Toronto has the largest Chinese population in North America, after New York.
For someone who lives in the suburbs just outside of Toronto, Chinatown is a whole different world. We don’t go downtown very often as we live in Mississauga. This time, we took Steve’s mom for her first ever visit! She got culture shock in her own country! We tried dim sum and bahn mi, and explored the local Chinese supermarket. Check out the vlog.

  1. Fun watching Diane's day out with jetlag warriors in Chinatown Toronto! Reminds me of my student days weekend in chinatown. 💝

  2. Toronto looks sooo clean & modern. The street cars are so cool too. Looks like a lovely city. Anyway, when Steve's mom says, this is travel for me. I just laugh out loud 😅. I have been living in KL for 10 years on and off and I still haven't explore the city fully. Once in a while when I do go to places in KL I have never been before, it does feel like travel. So your mom's comment is so relatable to me. 🤭

  3. 0:21 in hokkein we call it BAK CHANG like ketupat usually triangle shape but brown sticky rice with pork and peanuts….so yummy

  4. Now I know… Steve didn't eat seafood until he did… it's all that Mississauga boy in him…

Mum: will faint at ciken feet…

  5. Hi, that is a nice video. I live close to Chinatown and it's a great place to buy gifts. Another nice neighborhood is Kensington Market, my favorite place in Toronto.

  6. Hi, lovely charismatic couple. Diane is a remarkable woman. Sweet, curious, genuine, and wise. She gonna love to go to Asia. After cow stomach and chicken feet, she is ready to go. Hugs, synched Later Skaters family.

  7. When I 1st visited Toronto, coming from New York City, I asked my Canadian friend born in Antigua who had lived in NY, where the "ghetto" was. He proudly said it's prohibited to segregate in Canada. Indeed, Canada saved a few run away US enslaved, though they worked for free once saved by Canadian families, but Canada once also had slavery & the Chinese & other groups such as the Native, Italians & the Irish Catholics were also discriminated against, or North American/Canadian cities wouldn't have chinatowns & other "ethnic" pockets, though groups with the same language/traditions tend to cling to each other.

  8. Mrs Diane is SOOO sweet! When she said "I don't shock myself"! A MOOD! 😻

  9. I mean, besides the chicken feet (which is clean, healthier than many parts of the chicken) the rest of the food is not weird. Canada have poutine that is slathered by all sorts of fat, game meat that's a mix of everything and all sorts of pork meals in Canada. Good job for trying it out though. Try some more.

  10. Your mom is so sweet! A real lady.
Best greetings from a roumanian living in Paris, where we almost have civil war..strikes, police oppressions..and a new king Macron !

  11. Now I know where all your good natured personalities you’ve inherited from. You’ve a good and healthy relationship with your mom. Your mom is so kind and lovable! 🥰🥰

  12. i miss toronto, i was there in 2014… long time ago… i lived close to landsdowne station.
