Discover Japan’s tallest statue and the world’s tallest bronze Buddha, the Ushiku Daibutsu, standing at a whopping 120 meters. Located in Ibaraki Prefecture, the statue is easily accessible from Tokyo as a day-trip and offers views of the Tokyo Skytree and Mount Fuji on a clear day. Access to the site can be tricky, but a visit is worth it for those seeking something out of the ordinary. Don’t miss this unique attraction on your next trip to Japan.

  1. There's a lovely ramen store by the JR station in Ushiku: Menya Michisuke. Their thick broth ramen will keep you warm for your winter visit to the Daibutsu!
