We spent a few days near Mt. Fuji this past spring. We were so lucky to have several days of viewing Mt. Fuji, framed by the Spring’s cherry blossoms. We wandered around town near Kawaguchiko station viewing the blossoms and Mt. Fuji when they were in view. We also hopped on a boat which takes a short ride around Lake Kawaguchi for Fuji viewing.

We were also lucky enough to stay at Onsen Hotel Konansou, a rather posh hotel on Lake Kawaguchi with views of Mt. Fuji and the lake on either side. It was a mistake not to film on the roof – which had panoramic views of Mt. Fuji and a foot onsen!

While in the area, we also took a bus to Oshino Hakkai, as the lovely staff at our hotel recommended blossom viewing and sightseeing in this area. Although it was very busy at this time of year, we were not disappointed!

One super-huge tip if you are taking the Fuji Excursion direct train from Shinjuku, Tokyo to Kawaguchiko: the train was extremely crowded with tourists packed into the aisles. It was definitely worth booking a seat a couple days in advance. If you don’t have much time, you could easily make it to Fuji and Kawaguchiko on a day trip from Tokyo.

Oshino Hakkai info: A bus leaves from Kawaguchiko station.
Hotel info: 100% Recommend! I really want to go back some day!

There is also a ropeway nearby to the boat dock:
