Trip Report of Japan Shinkansen High-Speed Bullet Train HIKARI 481 from Shin-Yokohama to Hiroshima.

Shinkansen is one of the fastest train in the world, with the speed up to 320km/h. There’s different types of high-speed bullet trains in Japan, and NOZUMI is the fastest one, it only takes 3.5 hours from Tokyo area (Shinagawa, Shin-Yokohama). However, JR PASS holder needs to pay extra to get on NOZOMI and MIZUHO. HIKARI 481 becomes the best direct shinkansen train available from Tokyo to Hiroshima for JR PASS holders, and it takes 5 hours.

The seat is very comfortable and the ride quality is pretty good. It’s worth it if you are JR PASS holder. If not, buy NOZOMI tickets because it has frequent services and shorter travel time at the same price.

We departed from Shin-Yokohama, a station of Tokaido Shinkansen, and arrived at Hiroshima, a station of San’yō Shinkansen. Other Shinkansen Lines include
