After a long and wild day, I finally made it to Mombasa! This city on Kenya’s Indian Ocean coast is considered the country’s street food capital. Come with me as I head out on a nighttime street food tour of Mombasa, Kenya!
Mombasa was the first capital of British East Africa, and is also Kenya’s oldest city. It dates back to 900 AD and has been a prosperous trading center for centuries. It was instrumental in the ivory trade in the late pre-colonial period and was also a key player in trading networks around the Indian Ocean. Today, it’s also Kenya’s second-largest city, with over 1.2 million residents living in the city, and over 3.5 million in the metropolitan area.

MAMA NGINA WATERFRONT: First, I tried some crunchy and freshly grated and fried cassava chips. I followed that with fresh coconut water and hearts of palm, roasted sweet potatoes, and roasted corn with lemon and cayenne.
OLD TOWN OF MOMBASA: After a quick drive into Mombasa’s Old Town, we met vendors selling incredible chicken shawarma wraps, as well as mishkak (kebabs), and an amazing chicken tikka covered in tamarind sauce!

Cutting Schwarma meats ain't for everyone bro… 😂😂😂😂😂😂 That Tikka though… One of my favorites.
Well David, you finally made it to Mombasa. Quite a big difference from the previous places you visited. The street food here seem to be much better and somewhat healthy. Loved the yucca chips, the shawarma and the roasted corn(my favorites). Love my corn boiled and or roasted and the best way to get the whole kernel is to eat it line by line. You have to be careful eating raw spices like that. Not good for your stomach. Always drink something to flush it down. I am always amazed at Tasos' facial expressions when he tries something new. You all looked like you all were having such a good time. So where to next? Wait and see eh? Til next one. 🤗😋 BTW, David, corn is rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals, so it is healthy.
Here in Jamaica we put butter on our roast potatoes n yams
I don't get to watch your videos when they post, I know I had another before this one in the Kenya series like a day or 2 ago and it's gone now….did you get demonitized on that video??? 🤔 I was really looking forward to watching it 😕
Well David my friend. I finally know what type of chips it was, cassava. Oh my he was like a ninja. The sweet coconut water and jelly so good. Corn, chicken oh my it was so good to see. 💖
The best way to eat the cassava chips is with the chilli and a drizzle of lemon juice, you'll eat the entire bag unapologetically guilt free 😀😀. Also works on roasted maize and mangoes 😀.
i bet those cassava chips great would love to try those. cooo nut and heart of palm yum 😉 love sweet potatoes and corn yummyy 🙂 all the chicken street dishes will have tyvm 🙂 All looked amazing and i still would eat the sliced shawarma meat you cut lol 😀 ♥
