  1. I may had heard about this culture aspect. Even though Japanese locals would answer 'no', they still have to say 'yes', which makes us feel either messed up or comfortable.
For me, I would not say lies, just express my thoughts and answers openly.
Besides, being a free woman like you is a good thing, allowing yourself to explore in a wide range, Miss Mariel.

  3. I really don't like stupid questions like the one you mentioned either. I ignore people who have neither the intelligence nor the dignity to do so. I will wait until someone comes along who I am sure I can truly love. Well, that being said, I would like to have access to as many intelligent groups as possible.

  4. I like this topic.
In my view, Japanese don't think when they ask the questions, they mean, JUST ask the questions. They don't realize that they are giving rude impression with them.Because we've just only been learning English from the text book. Even if they learn that, they would do that. They don't understand English word, conversations
deeply at all. Before learning English,we must learn about understanding multicultural society at the same time. I don't know why your coworker asked that question to the students .Your coworker should have asked them how you interact other country's people or how to accept people from other countries. The subject can't be English class though. We have molal classes in school. We really care ''Not trying to bother others. but we still might not have multicultural society class in school. Many opportunities that Japanese meet other countries people are going to be increasing. It might be about time to change the educational sistem.
On the other hand, Japanese hate when people do something rude habit for example using with chopsticks wrong way, loud in public space etc. Other country people don't realize they are giving bad impression, bothering others. They mean'' They are JUST eating, doing something etc.'' Consequently, they really don't know Japanese culture deeply. It's like similar thing.

  5. I guess that the education about "critical thinking" is necessary in Japan.
That is the thinking method like "Is it true?" "Am I right?" Why do you (I / they) think so?".
Getting the method of "critical thinking" eliminate "cognitive bias", "prejudice" ,"stereotype."

  6. Wow, it's like that annoying aunt who keeps asking at family get togethers, "So when are you going to get married?"
