Over 50,000 miles sailed and THIS was literally the toughest 500 miles we’ve ever experienced! 50kt winds and 20ft seas for over 48 hours… a leaky hatch filling the boat with water… what else could go wrong?!

  1. Its almost hysterical how the kids are like "yea, its kinda windy" and move on because its just another day at sea.

  2. U took your family on a voyage through Somalian waters? I’ve been in cargo shipping for a long time, you should speak to a captain of those ships and ask them if they would ever do that in a small sailing vessel. Not smart. Everything is fine until it’s not fine. Be careful.

  3. Fun stuff, nice boat. Juicy target for guys in the coastal villages with speed boats though. That hatch looks like it wants replacing with something better or sealing up.

  4. You Tube just offered this to me…..Looks like a great site….cant wait to watch these in time…

    thanks..

  5. Uuugh…catamarans and big seas DON'T mix…just not enough of a 'keel beneath you' to give you sufficient stability, and add in that 'sail or float' thing of any sailboat, and it's why I stick to powered trawlers. I've NEVER seen the 'relaxing' part about sailing beyond sight-of-land…powered trawler, and I can sleep like a baby in big blue, but even a 50-ft catamaran in seas like that, I'm 'Bill the Cat'…and watching for any harbor I can make before it gets worse.

  6. I’m just starting this episode (min 2) can’t slow down, getting there faster! How about turning around, turn around 180deg some miles (do the math) enough to lose time so that when you turn back again in the direction you want you get there on time. I’m not a sailor but my logic push to opt for that solution

  7. I’ve been watching Finn’s videos and had no idea there was a whole family channel, this is amazing!!

  8. Your most exciting post! A few unforgettable days. Tough sailing toughens up the sailors a bit.

  9. You’re kids are going to be the most cool and calm adults of their generation. Real strength is poise not bravado like many others….. You deserve to be very proud how they seem to handle that crossing. 🫡🤘👍

  10. I'm sure this has been asked before, but that has to be some of the most dangerous waters in regards to pirate activity. Any thoughts ?

  11. You are FUCKING psychopaths. Honestly. What do you think your proving… To who? Society had been built for us to live in you Muppets… Yet you want to risk your lives… Every day…. The anxiety every day building and building… Gonna cause long term issues. Your FUCKING nuts.

  12. This is great to see – I spent five months sailing in that part of the world back in 1998, and this brings back a lot of memories (most of them, but by no means all, good). Got blown off an anchorage – flat calm to over 40kn in just a few minutes – and chased along the coast for 36 hours, surfing swells almost all the way to Yemen, slightly scary and very tiring but also exhilarating. Beautiful part of the world that's probably more risky, politically, now than it was then. One of my greatest-ever marine memories is a couple of hours sitting with legs dangling over bow in bright moonlight, watching otherwise invisible bow-surfing dolphins making trails through the phosphoresence off the Hadhramaut coast. Socotra is insanely beautiful, and ecologically amazing both on land and underwater. What a fantastic experience of the world for your young people, too. Thanks for this, and well done guys on getting to one of the greatest remaining beyond-the-back-of-beyond parts of the world.

  13. 11 min in what a great commercial for Flex Seal!! The kids actually surprise me they seem to give zero fks..so that tells me they have been doing this for a while.

  14. I sailed from FL to DC last summer for the first time. 3.5 day sail and it was amazing. One day we had 10-12 ft swell and it was awesome. The pictures and video don't do it justice. I can only imagine what this swell was like. Great video, new sub! 🙌🏼
