Best Gaziantep street food. Gaziantep has some of the best street food in Turkey, and today we learned how to make katmer and got to taste some heavenly kebabs on an epic street food tour of Gaziantep.

We started off our Gaziantep food tour with some very local dishes, ciğer kavurma and simit kebab. Both are found in more tradesman areas of the city, and this is where you find the best Turkish food and best hospitality. The simit kebab was heavenly!

One of the most popular Gaziantep foods is katmer, made with famous Gaziantep pistachios. We went to the oldest shop in Gaziantep, run by the 5th generation, to watch how to make katmer, and then how to eat it.

Gaziantep has some very popular and famous Turkish foods, but it also has a great deal of history, so we made sure to wander around the historic buildings and areas, including the Coppersmith Bazaar. In this area there are loads of places selling the famous Gaziantep pistachio, so of course we had to sample and buy some! These were the best pistachios we’ve ever tasted! Gaziantep truly is a street food heaven.

We finished off our Gaziantep street food tour trying an unbelievably heavenly kebab, the Ali Nazik Kebab. This is one of the top foods to eat in Gaziantep, and we can see why it’s so popular. Juicy lamb kebabs on a bed of yogurt and eggplant!? The best.
