香港國際機場一直是東亞及東南亞國際客運及貨運的航空樞紐，亞洲第4位最繁忙的國際機場。香港國際機場連接全球約220個航點，超過100間航空公司在此營運，每天提供逾1100班航班。2010年起，其貨運流量連續9年位居世界第1位，客運流量則排名世界第8位，國際客運流量排名世界第3位。2018年，總客運量達7,468萬人次，總航空貨運量共512萬噸。2019年，國際航空運輸協會頒發全球首個IATA CEIV Fresh認可予香港國際機場，成為合作夥伴機場。
