Skiing is one of the most basic human traditions; slide down a snowy hill with some friends and enjoy time outside in the winter. So how did we stray so far from our roots, with massive conglomerate resorts that cost an arm and a leg to enjoy, and consume hours of our lives waiting in line? Join Nate Luebbe as he explores the last few remaining independent ski resorts in Utah to discover what skiing used to be, and still is, if you know where to look.

  1. To be balanced, you should also point out that Eagle Point is only open on the weekends and that they normally don't get the snow accumulation that the Northern Wasatch resorts get. ie not reliably deep; but it does help that there are not many visitors and it's closed more than it's open.

  2. Cool series! We usually his the cottonwood canyons, but this year we ventured down to Sundance and it was like Brighton was pre-ikon! Great video and really well done!

  3. A couple of things I remember about going to Eagle Point two years ago – The lifties were super stoked. They always spoke to you as you got on the lift and pumped you up for another ride. That crazy bus system – to get back to the top where I parked. The bus kept stopping at people's houses on the way up. This resort is never crowded and great for beginners.

  4. Makin me want to dust off the ol' board and get out there! Awesome video, glad the independent resorts are getting some recognition
