Carnival Cruise Line to drop mandatory masking policy (Except certain venues and events). Also to allow an extra day for testing if fully vaccinated passengers.

Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that it will participate in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated program for cruise ships operating in U.S. waters, and is advising guests of the following changes:

• Effective with cruises departing Mar. 1, masks on board will be recommended but not required. There may, however, be certain venues and events where masks will be required.

• Carnival will continue to meet the standard of vaccinated cruises, but children under five years old will not be included in any vaccinated guest calculation, and thus will not be required to receive an exemption to sail.

• Effective with cruises departing Mar. 1, some additional flexibility in pre-cruise testing requirements will become available.

The CDC requires pre-cruise testing for vaccinated guests, ages 2 and older, to be taken within two days prior to the sailing date.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Effective March 1, guests who are up to date with their vaccines, i.e., received a booster if eligible, may take their test within three days prior to sailing.

If the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken on Thursday and Friday, and as late as Saturday, if you are guaranteed to receive your results in time for check-in. On certain sailings, guests should be prepared for the possibility of an additional COVID test prior to boarding, which will be provided in the terminal on a complimentary basis.

“We have had a very successful restart of guest operations thanks to the support of our guests, the commitment of our shipboard team, and the effective protocols we have put in place,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “The public health situation has continued to improve, providing confidence about these changes. Our protocols will evolve as we continue to remain dedicated to protecting the public health of our guests, crew and the communities we visit.”

Duffy said that Carnival’s highest responsibility and top priority is always compliance, environmental protection, and the health, safety and well-being of our guests, the people in the communities we touch and serve, and our shipboard and shoreside personnel. “We appreciate the ongoing collaboration among multiple government agencies, as well as the support of Alaska officials and other delegations,” she added.

  1. I had a saline in 2020 that got moved to 2020 to October. If I have to wear a mask I will cancel my cruise at any place on the ship. I’m fully vaccinated and boostered.

  2. My comment is that we are "getting there". Canceled a previous cruise because of the stricter protocols. Glad to see that they are relaxing them somewhat.

  3. hopefully they will drop testing by the summer. but the three days to test means i can test before flying to florida for my cruise

  4. What a frickin joke!!! They want people to get vexed and boosted with a vax that doesn't even protect you from Covid!! The virus has mutated but they are pushing the same vax!! It's all about the $$$ And no way would I submit a child to it!!!

  5. We leave on the 5th. And would like to know what test at cvs and Walgreens are required as they have 2 different ones

  6. Cruising is about as relaxing as military boot camp. Cruise lines say nothing about getting a refund if you feel fine but test positive. Next new ship should be named the Kafka.

  7. Great video and awesome news. Has a question. Can our 3 and 4 year old take the at home abbott test??

  8. Im a little confused about the if you have had covid within the past 90 days protocol. Do you still need a Doctors letter? It no longer states what that letter should consist of when it did before the last update. Can you help?

  9. Thank you so much for all of the valuable information that you provide concerning cruises. However, I am still a little confuse as to "what" type of covid-19 test that my 10 year old son who is fully vaccinated (dose 1 & dose 2) should take 2-3 three days before our Carnival Cruise sets sail on April 10th, 2022. Can my son take the same "eMed" home test that carnival recommends for my wife and I? Can you please clarify this point for me. Earlier in one of your you tube presentations you mentioned that children under 12 years old had to take a different type of covid-19 test prior to boarding. But I didn't recall the difference between children under 12 who are fully vaccinated already? I really appreciate any information that you can provide.

  10. So if your not vaccinated you can’t go on a cruise even if you test negative… Sounds like discrimination.. Vaccinated or not you can still get and spread Covid.. That’s a proven fact..
