日本三大桜の名所 高遠城址公園 / Along with Hirosaki Park (Aomori) and Mt. Yoshino (Nara), the cherry blossoms of Takato Castle Ruins Park in Ina City, Nagano Prefecture Japan are said to be one of Japan’s three most famous cherry blossom spots.
Takato Castle Ruins Park is a park built on the ruins of Takato Castle where Goro Morinobu Nishina, the fifth son of Shingen Takeda, died in a fierce battle with Nobutada, the eldest son of Nobunaga Oda.
Although the castle was demolished in the 4th year of the Meiji era, when the feudal domains were abolished and the prefectures were established, the former feudal retainers of the Takato clan transplanted cherry trees from “Sakura-no-baba”, and now it has become one of Japan’s leading cherry blossom spots.
Takato Kohiganzakura, which blooms in Takato Castle Ruins Park, is considered to be a hybrid of Mamezakura and Edohiganzakura.
Characterized by the shape and pale red petals inherited from two cherry blossom varieties, Takato was recognized as Japan’s only precious cherry blossom.
In the park, about 1,500 cherry trees, including 20 old trees over 130 years old, 500 over 50 years old, and more young trees, reach their peak every April.
At the same time, the Takato Castle Ruins Park Sakura Festival will be held, and during the period, the cherry blossoms will be lit up at night so that you can enjoy the beautiful night cherry blossoms.

青森県の弘前公園、奈良県の吉野山と並び、日本三大桜名所や日本三大桜の名所として知られている長野県伊那市の高遠城址公園の桜です。
高遠城址公園は、武田信玄の五男仁科五郎盛信が織田信長の長男信忠と戦い、壮絶な死を遂げた高遠城跡地に造成した公園です。
明治4年の廃藩置県により城は取り壊されましたが、高遠藩の旧藩士が「桜の馬場」から桜の木を移植したことにより、今では日本国内でも有数の桜の名所となりました。
高遠城址公園に咲くタカトウコヒガンザクラ（高遠小彼岸桜）は、マメザクラとエドヒガンザクラの交配種の一種とされており、2つの品種から受け継いだ形と淡い紅色の花弁が特徴で、高遠唯一の貴重な桜であることが認められました。
公園内では、樹齢130年以上の古木20本、樹齢50年以上の500本に加え、さらに若木を加えた約1,500本の桜が例年4月に見頃を迎えます。
また、同時に高遠城址公園さくら祭りも開催され、期間中の夜には美しい夜桜も観賞できる夜桜のライトアップも実施されます。
