  1. It’s crazy ppl assume because someone has interest in food they are a chef. That would make me a master chef LOL

  2. Hell yeah! This is why I watch this channel. A real dude who can down some cheese whiz and like it!

  3. That's why Bourdain was imo the best TV host ever. He's a chef that also is an entertaining and worldy individual

  4. Whether you've a culinary degree or not, your narration and analogy and witty humour makes it very entertaining.

  5. My dad is a chef and the ‘ooh, ok, so you do that and then the bearniese sauce…? Mm, nice!” kills me

  6. I agree with this. The audience can connect better with someone who’s not a chef.
I was a chef a few years ago and I thoroughly enjoy your channel.

  7. Idk man watching Anthony bordain or however you spell his name gotta say i loved watching his show. He wasnt overdramatic and immature as you. dude was normal and didn’t act like a cringe middle class white tourists visiting another country.

  8. The late Kieth Floyd and Anthony Bourdain excelled at presenting arguably moreso than their primary role as chefs.

  9. The two most successful food travel personas are Bourdain and Gordon Ramsay so it doesn't really help the point. It doesn't matter what your occupation is, what matters is your passion and ability to communicate that to an audience.

  10. I don't mind either way because a chef will have a better understanding but a host comes across more relatable I guess. I think most people are here because thy like the world of food and most people would probably get the terms used. And a good chef would be able to explain the terms to a lamen and have no hiccup in communication. Sonny your the best of both those to me. Love you as a host so at the end of the day just show your passion and your good.

  11. Sonny explores the world of food . He's opened me up to the world's food and all the food possibilities. He eats everything and experiencs the world of food. No need to be a chef in fact that may be a bad thing. Love sonny.

  12. I think Zimmern did an excellent job of giving you the chef and normal person perspective on lot of the stuff he did.

  13. Your show is way better than any food show on the food network! I’ve been watching your channel even through the pandemic. My daughter and I aways get excited when a new episode is posted. You are the man of the people and you and your team should be the framework for all food channels to follow

  14. His statement makes a lot of sense. When it comes to network tv. There has always got to be some accolades to the host or star. With travel shows not about food, instead of a chef they want an experienced travel guide, or global jet setter. Someone who already has a reputation in travel. Who then basically gets paid to go on expensive vacations for free. Nature shows, the host has to have worked at some major notable zoo. Or wildlife conservation organization for decades. It is never an average person who is curious and adventurous. Who just wants to experience what other people in other places experience. Ask the type of questions an average person would ask. So they can honestly walk in another person's shoes for a moment. So that people can get a real world look at how they live, with no bias, just a curious open mind. No can't do that. The network needs a professional with a professional opinion in order to legitimize the show.
They fail to see that good honest content legitimizes itself.

  15. I think this guy is like the yelp of YouTube. It’s good for general population. Anthony B shits all over this guy. Sorry no hard feelings but even Andrew Zimmern was 10x better. It’s gotten more diluted over time like Vegas from the 60s vs Vegas now

  16. Yeah that’s why I like Sonny Bec he actually cares abt his entertainment the other are more less kinda recipe cook show u travel talk eat get other information too it’s interesting learned a lot from watching an now I wanna taste a lot lol

  17. I've thought a lot about that. About the sweet spot of knowing what's interesting and confusing because you share the level of knowledge with others.
