Yanjin County is part of Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. Located in the northeastern part of Yunnan Province, between 103˚59´18˝~104˚27´50˝ east longitude and 27˚49´11˝~28˚24´38˝ north latitude.
It is named after it once owned a salt well to produce salt and set up a ferry to pass the flood. In ancient times, it was the residence of the Bo people. Xia, Shang and Wednesday belonged to the Liangzhou region, and later changed its affiliation. Kaibian County was established in 587 AD, where the administrative office is now located in the market town of Tantou Township. In 1727, it was changed to local government, and Yanjin belonged to the Great Pass of Wumeng Mansion. In 1917, the county was formally established and named Yanjin.
Yanjin County has the relics of Qin Kai “Five Chi Road”, “Tang Yuanzi Cliff”, “Bo People Hanging Coffin” and “Ancient Castle”. It is rich in yam and medicinal materials, and there are many kinds of orchids, and the silky fowl has high medicinal value. Rich in limestone, anthracite, and hydraulic resources, it is a mountainous county to be developed.

I wonder how the city makes income ? … looks like there's no arable land to grow the large quantities of food to feed everyone so farming's not a earner , they would have to import most of their food from outside the city .
Will have to research what commerce happens there to generate income to be able to run and maintain the infrastructure .
But yeah it's just fascinating to stare at .
