This video is longer than my usual ones. You may want to skim through but the Open Air Museum was not only very beautiful but interesting. Foreign diplomats and traders settled on this hill when Japan opened its doors to the world after the Meiji restoration in the mid-19th century.

Only three mansions here are original, the rest were moved from other locations. Don’t miss Thomas Glover’s favorite walking stick with the head of a dog in the video and the exquisite gardens with its many hydrangeas. So beautiful…
