A ryokan is a type of traditional Japanese inn that typically features tatami-matted rooms, communal baths, and other public areas where visitors may wear yukata and talk with the owner. Ryokan have existed since the eighth century A.D

Typically, a traditional Japanese breakfast consists of steamed rice, miso soup, a protein such as grilled fish, and various side dishes. Familiar side dishes may include tsukemono (Japanese pickles), nori (dried seasoned seaweed), natto (fermented soybeans), kobachi (small side dishes which usually consist of vegetables), and a green salad.

Although a Japanese breakfast comprises what Westerners might view as a complete meal appropriate for lunch or dinner, it is not intended to be heavy or too filling. Portion sizes for breakfast are adjusted to meet one’s appetite, and dishes tend to be lighter, for example, they tend not to be greasy, deep-fried, or rich.

  1. Love how he walked up to the camera after its set up and say how i can take my mask of now as if he hadn't been in the room before then. lamo

  2. I think if you are going to Japan you have to immerse yourself in the culture and I sure would give the Japanese hotel a go. Shame they messed up your reservation mind and a bit of a basic room. Have to say the Weston breakfast was good but man those views were amazing of the city. I would like to try their food but my palate is very conservative, so think I would struggle to be honest. Cheers Alan
