Japanese cherry blossoms symbolize birth and renewal and at the same time death and the reflection of our fleeting essence of life. Cherry blossoms (sakura) are embedded in Japanese culture and the iconic symbolism abounds everywhere you go in Japan. It lives on in the tea ceremony, in the most powerful expression of “Ichi go, ichi e…” which represents the concept that you will only be in this one moment at this one time, and it will never happen again. Thus, you need to be completely in the moment. A very Zen concept. This video was taken at Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture. (Sorry, not Ise Peninsula).
