The Hara Model Railway Museum is located in Yokohama, where Japan’s first railway started. The museum opens to the public a massive collection of models trains, said to be the largest in the world, made and possessed by Nobutaro Hara. The collection also includes many railway collectables other than the model trains.

One of the features of Hara’s models is that they recreate cars from Japan, Europe, the United States, and other places around the globe. From steam locomotives to electric locomotives, those tell of an age when railways were making tremendous advances. With those models, visitors can enjoy the world’s railways without ever leaving Yokohama.

世界的に著名な鉄道模型製作・収集家である原信太郎氏のコレクションから選りすぐった鉄道模型約1,000両を展示！
見どころは一番ゲージの室内ジオラマとして世界最大級の面積(約310㎡)となる「いちばんテツモパークジオラマ」。ジオラマは一周約70m、線路数6本、総延長は約450m。原氏の模型の特長である、世界の車両が走行する風景にマッチするように、ヨーロッパをイメージし、特に駅舎はフランスのリヨン駅をイメージ。ビッグボーイ(アメリカ合衆国の蒸気機関車)が十数両の貨車を引く壮観な場面も見られる。
また、かつての横浜駅(今の桜木町駅)周辺の様子や馬車道や中華街エリアなど、横浜の今昔を再現した「横浜ジオラマ」を設置し、HOゲージの鉄道模型を走行させる他、東海道新幹線の一番切符(一番最初に発券された切符)のレプリカや、アンティーク鉄道玩具など、入手困難なコレクションの数々も展示。
