The Hakone Tozen Railway is an electric mountain railway in Japan. It is about 90 minutes by train from Tokyo to Odawara, then a local train to Hakone-Yumoto, or take the Odakyu Romance train directly. The train then climbs to Gora via 3-switchbacks. The railway is part of a circle tour of Hakone. The tour continues from Gora via a Funicular, then onto 2 ropeways. Then onto a Boat to cross the lake to Hakone. To close the loop, buses will take you back to Odawara. This video is a ride on the railway. Hear all the traction motors groaning to climb the hill. The thumping of the air compressor and the squeal of the brakes. The scenery is beautiful as well. Let’s take a ride from 2003.
