There has been a big update to my apartment since my first tour and I wanted to share it with you. My first video wasn’t very good and since things have changed a bit since then I thought it was a good idea to record it again, better and with an important update to my living arrangements.

Thank you very much everyone for all the love you send my way. I assure you, the feeling is mutual.

I am an American Expat in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. (I dislike the word Expat). As I live, work and explore, I want to take you around with me to show you what I saw in Vietnam and talk with you about my experiences living in Saigon and take you with me as I travel vlog around Vietnam in 2022. I always thought living abroad would be scary, but it’s interesting and fulfilling. The food is amazing, the culture is fascinating and the people are friendly and welcoming. If you ever wanted to take the leap to travel and live abroad, Tourism in Vietnam is buzzing right now since Vietnam. I am often asked: are Vietnam borders open? Yes indeed, tourism reopened in 2022. I hope you will feel encouraged by my channel. I am not a Vietnam digital nomad in HCMC. But I know a few.

  1. I'm glad I bumped into this video. I'm relocating to Vietnam early next month and have been exploring the exact apartment complex as my office in Nguyen Van Linh. And you got a new sub here! Any pros and cons about the apartment so far?

  2. Holy bang for your buck, Batman!

I'm teaching in Taiwan, and I pay $439.00 / 9,998,000,000 VND a month for a one-room P.O.S. dump-of-a-place. Fortunately, my teaching contract is almost up. I'll definitely go back to The States for a bit and then head off to Vietnam.

  3. Yeah dryers are ridiculous and use an insane amount of energy AND ruins your clothes when you can just hang dry. Maybe emergency use only or of you live in a place with a lot of rain. But even then you can at least try to hang undercover

  4. I live in Nevada City (about an 1 from Sac). I stumbled on your channel yesterday and enjoy it very much. I lived in Thailand 2018 & 19 and I want to return to SE Asia for another 1-2 years. Either Philippines or Vietnam. Your channel is great for helping me to decide. Now I need to find your counterpart in PH but I don't see anyone doing it the way you do. Good job. Thank you

  5. There is NOTHING WRONG WITH WATER QUALITY in the larger cities in VietNam with the exception of Ha Nói where naturally occurring arsenic raises domestic treated water to where bottled water is preferred or alternatively boiled water.

Most larger apartment complexes subscribe to a water quality testing service on Pasteur Street in HCM.

That said, a couple of years ago HCM Health, a very proactive agency did sampling of all bottled water suppliers and closed several down. Bottled water in other centres are at best dubious with the exception of the 3 largest processors.

I never buy water and have never suffered anything except in the taste. A water filter attachment is all that is required.

Since millions of VNese simply boil tap water before drinking, it should suffice unless you like wasting money.

  6. To each his own but considering the location of the apartment I don't think 11 mln/month is a good deal. Cheers, OX

  7. yahoo! , Following your dream where eventually lead you to a significant living in near future at this stage of life. Do not combine virtual gaming pleasure over tangible reality, Looked after carefully about your goal, these comfortable ambiance will last for many years '' Teacher Adam ".

  8. Nice apartment but, you're saying "my" to much with your girl living with you full time. Everything should be "ours" now. Just saying.

  9. Thanks for the price breakdown on life in Vietnam/Saigon. It is infinitely less expensive than in San Francisco. Good luck on your channel.

  10. Those split ACs are heat pumps, that work much like the centralized heating/cooling in the USA. I believe they're more efficient than window units.

I doubt a swamp cooler, which relies upon evaporation, would work in HCMC at all.

  11. Obviously you're set there but it seems like there's 2 camps, ones who gush over everything and the other who say look you have to watch out for all these things ..so I'm wondering just how good or bad is it still, worse than Thailand? ,better? Cambodia is not as cheap but at least the visas are good..

  12. FREE ADVERTISING for the bottled water industry.

WATER IN SOUTHERN VIETNAM IS GOOD. After 30 years in the country l have never bought water. HCM ls good straight out of ths tap in buildings newer than 15 years. The problem is plumbing in older plumbing.

HCM has several water process centres. One l watched being built has output pipes 2 metres in diameter.

HA NOI and the North is different as NATURAL ARSENIC is VERY high.

    Boiling water cures most problems.

  13. YOU ARE LUCKY to have fitted clothing storage.

I live in a new building in a 90 square metre 2 bedroom unit. It rents for Ð8, 700, 000 / month. Fully furnished. It has 2 full bathrooms with hot water. The kitchen has a gas counter (no oven) stove, microwave, with a hot baking feature. Full fridge and washing machine.

My Landlady is great, we have met 3 times in 8 years. She said "treat it as yours". So l have. I installed an instant hot water tap in the kitchen as well as a stove smoke hood.

    I a 40" screen TV, which I never use.

Maintenance fees are Ð440, 000/month. Parking is Ð33, 000/month (motorcycle).

I keep my SUV in another, fancier, condo that has extreme security for Ð400, 000/month. (Extreme means 24 hour live body guards, motion detector controlled lighting and CCTV.

I live in Phu My Borough in Quan 7.

  14. My building is a roads width from a decent sized river. As mine is a new area, l had a concrete boat slip made from the road to the river so l can launch my Zodiac. The council seems to have adopted my ramp, they installed a gate in the fence they recently put in.
