Is the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad actually the most scenic train ride in America? We think it might be! What are your favorite train rides?

We get spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, the San Juan National Forest, the Animas River, and the historic mining town of Silverton, CO on the Durango Train:

  1. You should take the kiddos on the Polar Express through Williams, AZ on the Grand Canyon Railway. I also recommend adding in Bearizona and the Grand Canyon deer farm if you do the trip.

  2. Totally different type of train ride, as it is short and has a staged robbery along the way, is the train at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. Your kids would love it, as well as the whole experience. The Ozark Mountains in the fall are beautiful, and there is so much to see and do. Lots of cool camping places, too. Table Rock Lake is in the area, and another neat place to visit is not far away…Dogwood Canyon. Never been there myself, but family has a few times and it is supposed to be amazing.

  3. My favorite train ride is no longer available sadly but it was the sauger cane train in Lahaina on Maui. It was the best wasn't long but u got to see a working sauger plantation back when I was young and it had great views of the ocean and the west maui mountains.

  4. I wonder if get everyone together for a trip (like the train ride) is as much fun as getting everybody together to go to a church service? It is nice when the children get to a certain age when they can choose things to wear and dress themselves. Is Hensley good about those types of things?

  5. The views are incredible. I think this would beat even traveling on a bus. This one of the last modes of transportation that allows you to see a vast array of landscapes and sights that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Yes there are trips via automobile but the driver really can never relax and take everything in fully because of concentrating on being safe for passengers.

  6. Epsoma organic YouTube channel check out your twin Marissa ! I was looking up ways to mulch my garden with leaves 🍁 and I saw her and immediately thought is was you 😂!

  7. We absolutely love the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge steam scenic train ride
In the fall, stunning! We have rode the Great Smoky Mountain Scenic Steam train ride. We have also rode Conway New Hampshire Scenic Train ride. We are always looking for a great Scenic train to explore our beautiful country

  8. My favorite beautiful family….Awesome video thank you you’re in my neighborhood I’m in the Springs COLORADO Springs come see me ha ha

  9. The Pikes Peak COG was one of the best ever! Don't know if they've opened it up again, as it closed a few years back. It starts in Manitou Springs (just outside of Colorado Springs & goes up to the summit of Pikes Peak.

  10. The train between Georgetown and Silver Plume was a good one. It’s a nice short one for people worried about their kids.

  11. I can’t wait to go to the United States
    So much fun
    Love your Canadian friends

  12. Last time I was on this train I was probably close to Hensley's age. What a fun train ride!! I can't wait to take my wife on it.

    Train whistles…
    2 forward
    3 reverse
    2 long, 1 short.. crossing
The headlight is an Federal Railway Admin. (FRA) requirement

  13. We have loved Cass Scenic Railroad in Cass WV for many years. We went with our parents as kids then we took our kids. They still sell a postcard at their store of a stagecoach they used years ago as an attraction and my husband, at the age of 13, is riding beside the driver! Now he is 63! Thanks for your train video!

  14. I am probably biased but the Cuyahoga National Park runs a train that is super fun through the Cuyahoga River Valley- they also do a “Polar Express” which is so fun for kids at Christmas time

  15. The Durango & Silverton is on my bucket list!
Wow–drone shots from a moving train?! How tricky was that to re-capture the drone??
Have you ever done the Skunk Train ride in northern CA? It, too, has an all day and half-day option. The last time I went was in the late 1980s, and my then-high-school-age daughter and I spent pretty much the entire 8 hour round trip standing up in the open air (no roof!) observation car (no seats!) taking pictures of the train and the scenery. It goes through gorgeous coast redwoods.

  16. We rode the cog up Mount Washington in NH a couple of weeks ago. I loved it so much. I’ll definitely do it again.

  17. There's also the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. A few minutes west from Colorado Springs in the town of Manitou Springs. Very scenic area there Manitou Springs, and the railway just reopened after getting some upgrades/repairs.

Also, I live in Albuquerque and wanted to say I'm glad you enjoyed your stay for Balloon Fiesta. I crew for a hot air balloon and always enjoy hearing about folks having a good time doing what I do almost every weekend.

  18. Sleepy / Cuddly theory: the rhythm of the steam pistons is a nice multiple (or harmonic) of the kiddo's heart beat.

    🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I like trains! 🚂🚂🚂

  19. Looks amazing! The ride from Anchorage to Seward is gorgeous! And the ride over Hurricane Gulch in the winter (also Alaska) is incredible too.

  20. You guys are great to watch and your children are beautiful. That train ride looks like a blast. We hear so much on youtube go here go there it's hard to even remember the states it's in. Love your videos. Be safe.

  21. Any chance you noticed if this is handicap assessable?
If you have time when you do activities like this to ask about Assessability that would be awesome:) I know it’s hard already to manage kids + a camera…

  22. There is a great train ride from Clarkdale, Arizona, called the Verde Canyon Railroad. Very similar to the Durango-Silverton experience.

  23. You should go to West Virginia and ride the Cass railroad. It’s an old steam logging train. I’ve ridden it probably 25 times in my lifetime. Has an old town and general store.

  24. The views from that train are absolutely breathtaking! The whole route we kept saying ooooooh ahhhhh. Ooooooo. Ahhhhhh. Ooooooo ahhhh!

  25. My favorite is the White Pass Railroad that leaves from Skagway, AK and travels up into the Yukon.

  26. I love the Mt Washington Cog! We were out there a few years ago, but you need to get up early to take the steam trip up for the real experience
