Sakura season in Japan? Go to Kyoto! It’ll be beautiful.
Yes, it will be, and everyone else will be there too. It will be jam packed. Wanna enjoy the flowers without the crowds? Get off the beaten path! Founded in 860, Kozenji Temple in Nagano’s Komagane, features Kyoto quality structures and history without the Kyoto crowds. It’s weeping shidare-zakura and location at the foot of the Central Japanese Alps far from the Tokkaido Shinkansen (bullet train) make it the perfect place to enjoy the sakura crowd free.
Once you’re done enjoying the flowers, head to the Jigokudani Monkey Park! You’ve seen it on TV, but always in the winter. Come with me in the spring and see a side of Japan’s famous snow monkeys that isn’t shown: the newly born babies. Ordinary is strictly prohibited, and traveling on a budget still means traveling on style, especially when you’re Traveling on a Dime
