This time we would like to introduce the folk music of Tsugaru presented by professional min’yō (a type of Japanese folk singing and shamisen performance) player Yūsuke Kenmochi. The Tsugaru is the western area of Aomori Prefecture, where is well-known for Aomori Nebuta Festival. The Tsugaru-style shamisen, a three-stringed instrument has a distinctive sound that is instantly recognizable as distinctly Japanese.
