[Cycling Japan] Bikepacking 170KM From Nagoya to Kyoto (Lake Biwa Route)

I had a 4 day weekend break from work, and we (I) really wanted to do another big cycling trip. Since we both had to renew our passports in Osaka, we decided to cycle there, but first head to Kyoto from Nagoya on day 1 and enjoy a day there.

This is day 1 part 1 of our Kansai Cycling Trip and this video includes our first part of our ride from Nagoya to Lake Biwa. Part 2 (the same ride, but different video) will document our ride along the coast of Lake Biwa to Kyoto.

Our road bikes are loaded up in a semi bikepacking setup with my restrap saddle bag, our top tube bags from Giant, and Thuong’s full size oldschool framebag.

We went into this weekend trip after an extremely busy week of work for me. I didn’t get to bed until 2am, and we finished packing and reserving our first hotel the morning of our departure.. Felt great to finally escape the daily routine and get out on the bike.

We also had spectacular weather all weekend, probably the best weather we’ve had for cycling in Japan in a long long time.. Anyway, hope you enjoy the video and you can check out our cycling route here..
