Join me and my 240km ride from Nagoya to Kyoto and Osaka, where I stop a couple times along the way to meet with various friends.
My old cycling teammate from Michigan was traveling in Japan with his son, so I met him in Kyoto for a bit, showing them around some of Kyoto’s popular attractions, before moving on to continue the rest of my ride from Kyoto to Osaka.
I finished my ride to Osaka, but wasn’t meeting my friend there until the next day, so I camped by a nearby river with my hammock, and took a nice “bath” in the river. I was really tired from my lack of sleep and long ride, so I quickly passed out, only to be awoken by some people doing their morning “radio exercise” (ラジオ体操) by me, which was then followed by rain.
I took shelter under a nearby bridge, then grabbed some breakfast before heading of to my friend’s house, where I was very much looking forward to meeting her new dogs 🙂
I originally planned to ride back to Nagoya after my trip, but the weather forecast wasn’t looking good, so I ended up returning by train, but I was still very happy overall with the trip.
It was my first time travelling with a bike rack, and also my first time attempting to film a VLOG (my new GoPro arrived the day before I left for this trip…), and I had a great time. Hopefully more trips like this to come in the future!
