Welcome to the first episode of Frame of Travel.

Today, we head over to Doai Station, known as the deepest still-operating station in Japan. Serviced by the Joetsu line which connects from the Niigata area all the way to Ueno, it is a well-known train station to get access to some infamous hiking spots in Gunma Prefecture.

The main underground platform is almost 70 meters underground and is unattended by staff, leaving the station with a lonely, if not barren atmosphere. In total, there are 486 steps one must travel in order to reach the platform from the entrance as well.

Originally opened in mid-December of 1936, it now receives only a few passengers daily and although still powered, feels vaguely like stepping into an entirely new world.

*Special Note*

Please bear with me, as I am not skilled at editing AT ALL. I understand where I can improve, and I am learning more in order to understand the art better. For now, I simply want to focus on creating, NOT perfection. So please enjoy watching with an open mind and I will continue to improve with practice.

Cheers.
