Close encounter with Mama Bear on Beach in Alaska at Katmai National Park. We were waiting at the beach for our float plane to take us away when a mama bear and her cub walked out. When you arrive at Katmai National Park, they have an orientation session for about one hour where the park rangers talk about bear safety and what you should do when you encounter a bear. When we were surprised by the bears, we did as the rangers instructed us and backed away slowly.

  1. Just remember. You do not have to run faster than the bear. You just have to run faster than at least one other person!

  2. In Glacier Notional Park, we saw bears close up. My family was smart enough to keep their distance.

  3. I don't think those people had Any idea about a bear encounter, there's no damn sign anywhere where it says Bears Beware!!! It's not like those that go swimming in the ocean knowing very well there's sharks but they still go swimming so this is not like they were aware!!!

  4. Poor bears…they have nothing left to eat. We've killed it all.

  5. That is not normal for a Momma Bear to act so calm with her cub in tow and so many idiot humans so close PLUS she’s panting

  6. They shouldn’t place themselves in a situation where an animal is their keeper..with a bear, or white shark or orca..?

  7. They are probably saying “Cool” “Oooh” “Eeek” “Stand back ladies I’ll protect you” “Alright”.

  8. This is the bears home, habitat, why must ppl come here and put these majestic animals in danger? Just to get a photo?

  9. I'm surprised not 1 of them tried to pet the mother and cub. Why not they're dumb close enough to.
